Masters of Horror: The Damned Thing, a review by addicted2dvd

Masters of Horror: The Damned Thing
Twenty-four years ago, outside a small Texas town, young Kevin Reddle watched helplessly as his oilman father brutally slaughtered his mother before being torn apart by an invisible force. Today the county Sheriff, Kevin ('Sean Patrick Flanery' of THE BOONDOCK SAINTS) remains haunted by memories of that night and the fear that "the damned thing" may someday return. Now as the citizens of Cloverdale explode into a homicidal frenzy, the one man who has uncovered the truth is about to meet his own horrific destiny. 'Marisa Coughlan' ('BOSTON LEGAL') and 'Ted Raimi' (THE GRUDGE) co-star in this blood-soaked shocker written by 'Richard Christian Matheson' from the classic short story by 'Ambrose Bierce'.

My Thoughts:
Today I finally got around to watching the last episode of Masters of Horror that I never seen before. After watching this episode I can now say, without a doubt, that The V Word is my favorite of all the Masters of Horror episodes... but this one is not to far behind. I really enjoyed this episode. I can't say that this one has an extreme amount of gore in it (unlike episodes like Pelts) but it don't shy away from the gore either. So if you are not a fan of the gore... there is a few scenes you may want to close your eyes for. Over-all I really enjoyed the entire Masters of Horror series.... it is a shame that it has been canceled. I would have loved to seen even 1 more season.

Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvd

The 4400
Over the last century, thousands of people have gone missing. Suddenly and inexplicably, 4400 missing people are returned all at once, as they were on the day they vanished. Unclear what this world-altering event means, the government investigates the 4400 to piece together where they've been and why they've been returned. It quickly becomes apparent that their presence will change the human race in ways no one could have ever foreseen.

Pilot
Everyone on Earth is excited about a comet passing by, but as soon as its trajectory changes to a collision course everyone starts to panic. The comet turns out to be a giant ball of light that when explodes it leaves behind 4400 people. They are missing persons who have been gone from a few months to 60 years and none have aged a day. The 4400 are put in quarantine and eventually released. Some of the returnees begin to exhibit strange and uncontrollable new abilities. Tom Bishop and Diana Skouris, two Homeland Security agents, are appointed to find out what happened to the 4400.

My Thoughts:
This is one of those series that while it is good... it is not one I would call a favorite. As of yet I still only have the very short (5 episodes) 1st season set. I don't know what problem I have with it... as it is a good premise and for the most part the characters are likable. But for some reason I tend to get a little bored watching this show. And I never have the urge to watch the next episode right away when I watch one like I do on most series.

My Rating:
