Plot:
When Aubrey Davis (Amber Tamblyn, TV's "Joan of Arcadia") learns her sister Karen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) has been hospitalized, she immediately flies to Tokyo. Once there, she learns her sister's horrifying story and discovers that the fatal supernatural curse has been unleashed. Now, as the grudge spreads across the world, a new host of unsuspecting victims are about to become infected by the force that can't be stopped - and won't be killed.

My Thoughts:
This one was a blind buy... but as I said... I did enjoy the first one so I felt safe picking up part 2... especially since I found it on sale for about $10.  Going into this one I was expecting something maybe almost as good as the first one. What I actually found was one that was better then the first one! Which is something you seldomly ever see.  I would recommend this one even if you were just slightly entertained by the first one... but I would not recommend skipping the first one and going straight to part 2... as it takes over right where the first one leaves off.

I love this movie. One of my favourite horrors. And after the last few days of the elegant brilliance of Val lewton, I felt I needed to cut loose with some balls-out action vampire killing!

I wish I could have seen it without knowing what it actually was, because the shock of the switch from thriller to horror would have been great fun. It's great that Rodriguez put full effort into that first half to give us well rounded characters, because a problem with a lot of horror films is the thin characters. What's also lacking is a sense of humour, but last section is full of laughs, especially Tom Savini trying to hide his new teeth! Or the vamp that disintegrates on a pool table and his eyes roll into the pockets!

Speaking of which, the gore never gets boring. So many gags, you could watch this several times and still see something new and disgusting. The script is fantastic, full of quotable lines, some of which I've been able to get into everyday conversation... like "I might be a bastard, but I'm not a f***ing bastard!" or the speech about pussy. Actually, I wish I'd not tried that last one. I'm still not welcome in Asda...

It's alright having a good script, but you need a good cast to deliver it and this lot are perfect. Even Tarantino, working to his, erm, strengths. Juliette Lewis I thought would be wrong, but she strikes a good tone between schoolgirl and temptress to Richie's nightmare. Harvey Kietel is as dependable as ever and Clooney is obviously having a riot. Well, I say "obviously", but the outtakes show him frequently pissed off and without his usual humour, so maybe it just proves what a good actor he actually is. And it does no harm to have room for cult favourites like the afore mentioned Tom Savini and Fred Williamson.

Everything oozes confidences in this movie. All the scenes have that little extra they didn't actually need, but looks cool anyway. It will possibly always stand as Rodriguez' best film because it's the most perfect fit for his seat of the pants directing style and there aren't many stories that can stand such a change in tone and still work fully committed to both styles.

"And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because I don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what I saw is fucking vampires!"

EPISODE 13: SUSPECT
So many suspects, so little time. More than one person had the opportunity and motive to shoot Lionel Luthor, but the prime suspect is Clark's dad.

My Thoughts:
This is the "Who Shot Lionel Luthar?" (Who Shot J.R.?) Episode. I really enjoyed this episode... especially since it has been so long since I seen this episode... I didn't remember it at all! So it was like watching it for the first time again.

EPISODE 14: RUSH
Chloe goes wild. Pete goes bad. Clark goes along with the whole, nonstop party when Pete slips a certain red k ring into his pal's pocket.

My Thoughts:
Another really good episode.I really enjoyed the "hot" Chloe and the daredevil Pete scenes.This is one where Clark is slipped Red Kryptonite and he and Pete tell Chloe the secret... both Pete and Chloe being effected by a parasite... so of course once the parasite was removed Chloe forgets about Clark's secret.

EPISODE 15: PRODIGAL
Lex locates half-brother Lucas in order to get enough votes to oust Lionel from the corporation. Lionel feigns blindness to his advantage. And Lucas may have an agenda entirely his own.

My Thoughts:
This one... to me... is not that great of an episode... it is ok at best. The big thing happening in this episode is the realization that Lionel Luthor is no longer blind.

EPISODE 16: FEVER
Martha is pregnant, but there's no joy when that news comes with the realization that she may be dying of exposure to meteor dust. Lana and Chloe examine their feelings for Clark after he is similarly stricken.

My Thoughts:
This is one of those episodes that even after watching it I don't know just how much  It goes up and down on how much I like it. The meteor dust makes both Martha and Clark sick... I think the scene where Chloe tells the sick Clark her feelings is my favorite... though sad...  scene of the episode.
