The Lost Boys, a review by Antares

The Lost Boys (1978) 2.5/5 - A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon the film Finding Neverland on HDNet. It told a rather fanciful and creative tale of the author J.M.Barrie, and his relationship with five brothers growing up in England around the turn of the 20th century. The boys would be the basis for the creation of Barrie's most famous work, Peter Pan. When I wrote that review, I mentioned that I had never read the book, nor seen the famous Disney film. But due to its rather creative way of the spinning its story, had completely absorbed me. After I watch something that is based upon an historical character, I always find myself scouring the web, to get more in depth knowledge of said character. When I perused many articles about Barrie and his relationship with the Llewellyn Davies brothers, I kept reading about a BBC mini-series which chronicled the same story as Finding Neverland. That film had a more dubious reputation when it came to the historical accuracy of its story, but had been such a delight to watch, that I forgave it for its shortcomings in the truth department. The Proposal, a review by Rich

Title: The Proposal

Runtime:104
Certificate:PG-13
Year:2009
Genres:Comedy, Romance

Plot:Sandra Bullock is at her funniest in the fresh, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy The Proposal. On the verge of being deported and losing the high-powered job she lives for, the controlling Margaret announces she's engaged to her unsuspecting, put-upon assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds). After proposing a few demands of his own, the mismatched couple heads to Alaska where they have four short days to convince his quirky family and a very skeptical immigration agent that their charade is real. Featuring a star-studded supporting cast, including Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson and the delightfully inappropriate Betty White, this madcap comedy will have you saying "yes" to The Proposal again and again.

Xena: Warrior Princess Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 2: Disc 6

21. Lost Mariner
After a shipwreck, Gabrielle finds herself aboard the cursed vessel of the lost mariner Cycrops. Soon, she and Xena are confronted by pirates and the nasty god Poseidon.

My Thoughts:
I like this one... good story with the cursed ship. And I like seeing Tony Todd in an episode. Someone I know from several horror movies. I had to laugh when Xena showed Gabrielle the pressure point in her wrist to stop sea sickness... and Gabrielle just about beats her wrist all to hell when someone tried to give her some squid to eat.

My Rating:

22. Comedy of Eros
Draco is threatening to sell some temple maidens into slavery and Xena is trying to stop him. Trouble is, she's also falling in love with him. Meanwhile (and just as strange), Gabrielle is falling for Joxer.

My Thoughts:
Not a bad episode... but not really good either. They (obviously) tried for a comedy... but I personally just didn't find it that funny. Silly to a point. But there was nothing here that actually made me laugh.

My Rating:

Over-all this is a good season. Though I do think the first season was a little better.
