The Wrong Man, a review by Tom

Title: The Wrong Man
Year: 1956
Director: Alfred Hitchcock
Rating: PG
Length: 101 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85
Audio: English: Dolby Digital Mono, French: Dolby Digital Mono, Italian: Dolby Digital Mono
Subtitles: Arabic, Bulgarian, Dutch, English, French, Italian

Stars:
Henry Fonda
Vera Miles
Anthony Quayle
Harold J. Stone
John Heldabrand

Plot:
The Wrong Man is like 'and' unlike any other Alfred Hitchcock movie. The story packs tension, the images are spellbounding and the dilemma genuinely frightening. But this time the master of suspense dramatizes the harrowing true experiences of a man tried for crimes committed by a lookalike robber.
Henry Fonda
plays musician Manny Balestrero, a man full of visible but unspoken rage at his wrongful arrest.
Vera Miles
is his distraught wife Rose, driven to madness by the ordeal. And the right man to bring the unsetting facts of the case to vivid screen life with documentary precision is Hitchcock. He made New York City a star of the film and cast real-life Balestrero case witnesses in small roles. He shot in many actual locations, among them the Stork Club, Manny's jail cell and Rose's sanitarium.

Awards:

Extras:
Featurettes

My Thoughts:
I just don't seem to get into the Hitchcock movies. This movie executed well, even though I feel that the female lead is overacting. In many scenes I feel like she is the embodiment of the many parodies you see about bad acting. Henry Fonda is great though.

Modern Problems, a review by Dragonfire

Modern Problems

I first saw Modern Problems years ago, I think on Encore.  I recently found it on HBO and decided to watch it again.  I remembered enjoying the movie overall.

Things are a little silly, but the movie is entertaining.  The plot isn't complicated, though there is one or two twists.  There are some special effects used in a few scenes.  The effects do look dated, but they aren't that bad considering when the  movie was made.  The characters are kind of flat and it isn't the easiest to like a few of them.  The cast is fine in their parts.

The movie does have a few issues, but it is entertaining.  Chevy Chase has done better.

My Thoughts:
Over the last few days I just watched the entire 8th (final) season of 24. There is just something about this series.... something that once you start a set.... you just can't stop until you watched the entire season. I must say... I enjoyed every second of this one! An excellent season to an outstanding series. This is a series I highly recommend. I am sorry to see that there is no more episodes to watch now. While I loved this season... this series on a whole... I would have liked to seen a better ending to the series for the main character. Granted I don't know how they could have done anything else with the story they told... but I just personally would had preferred a different outcome.

After recently watching the last 2 seasons of this great series... I am tempted to start all over again from the very first season to the last. But I think I better save that for another time. If you never seen this series before... give it a chance... I sure you won't be sorry.
