Alex & Emma, a review by DJ DoenaJune, 16th Luke Wilson ... Alex Sheldon / Adam Shipley Kate Hudson ... Emma Dinsmore / Ylva / Elsa / Eldora / Anna David Paymer ... John Shaw Sophie Marceau ... Polina Delacroix Synopsis: Alex owes some guys 50 grand due to gambling problems and of course he doesn't have the money. But he's a writer and he promises them a hundred grand in 30 days when his new book is finished - but he hasn't even begun it yet. He needs a stenographer to type 300 pages in 30 days and thus he hires Emma to type while he's dictating his story. My Opinion:Alex & Emma fails. It's like watching a village creek flow for 92 minutes. Nothing extraordinary happens, not even the blunder was a big deal. They even had this basically cool idea to "jump" into the story Alex was writing and Emma interrupts him and demands changes. There was so much potential to use (for example) rewind effects or morphing effects to change to story while telling but they barely made use of such devices. And what's worse: The story Alex was writing was boring as hell. This was a blind buy, of course. Ryan Reynolds stars as Will Hayes, a 30-something Manhattan dad in the midst of a divorce when his 10 year-old daughter, Maya (Abigail Breslin), starts to question him about his life before marriage. Will relates his romantic ups and downs to her, from girl next-door Emily (Elizabeth Banks), to the best friend and confidante, April (Isla Fisher) and the free-spirited Summer (Rachel Weisz)... three romances... three broken hearts. Maya puts together the pieces of her dad's romantic puzzle, she begins to understand that love is not so simple or easy... and Will realises that it's never too late to get a second chance in love. I liked the frame story with Ryan Reynold's character and his daughter (played by Abigail Breslin from "Little Miss Sunshine"). Also the ending was the one I was rooting for Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on March 20th, 2010) "Due South" marathon, a review by addicted2dvdBird in the Hand This episode was only fair to me. It felt like the comedy was lacking for the most part. Even though I did like Fraser's father edging him on to kill or hurt the guy that killed him. But one thing did bother me a lot in this episode. The guy that killed Fraser's father seen him while hanging from the window. That just does not fit in with the father being only in Fraser's mind.
