Wonderland, a review by Jimmy

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: Wonderland (2003)

Genre: Real Crime Story
Director: James Cox
Rating: R
Length: 1h44
Video: Widescreen
Audio: English
Subtitles: English & Spanish

Stars:
Val Kilmer
Kate Bosworth
Lisa Kudrow
Josh Lucas
Dylan McDermott

Plot:
On the afternoon of July 1, 1981, Los Angeles police responded to a distress call at 8763 Wonderland Avenue and discovered a grisly quadruple homicide. The police investigation that followed uncovered two versions of the events leading up to the brutal murders - both involving legendary porn actor John Holmes. You're about to experience both versions.

My Thoughts:
This film is a perfect exemple of a movie that didn't get the success it deserve. Because what we have here is for me the best American movie made in the last 10 years. Sure the shaky cam and the mtv editing is present but that was used for a reason (pass a lot of information fast and get the confusing mood of the persons involved in the events), so I can tolerate them. The director and the script writer had done their work to get the story straight something that we aren't used too anymore (for an exemple of lazy works full of errors just watch Boogie Nights, a real piece of crap). Val Kilmer is perfect in his interpretation of John Holmes (who can honestly say that he was sure that Nick Rivers would had a career that big), in fact nobody is a weak link in the cast. The soundtrack is awesome, full of seventies rock hits and all the songs are well used when they are (the opening credit using Shooting Star from Bad Company is a perfect exemple of a song well used). Contrary to many recent movies this one isn't sanitized for the teenagers. It's violent, it's bloody, it's dirty and it's perfectly how a crime story must be done.

If you have never seen this one it's time to give it the chance it didn't had when it was originally released.

My Thoughts:

While I am familiar with the character... I never seen much on Ant-Man before seeing this movie. I never read much comics and the shows I watched as a kid from the '60s - '80s never showed much of him. But I must say... I enjoyed the film very much. I liked all the cast and the character they played. It is a good origin story that is both informative and entertaining. It has plenty of action as well as a few laughs here and there. Definitely recommended.

Smallville Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Kathy...
Everything seems to be working fine now... maybe the site was down for a bit. Can you see it ok now?

DJ Doena...
I agree with what you said.. but never really bothered me all that much for some reason.

Season 2: Disc 1:

EPISODE 1: VORTEX
Is it the powerful wind that lifts Clark during a dramatic airborne rescue of Lana? Or does Clark tap into an unknown super power? A snoopy reporter meets a sudden end... and a certain secret dies with him.

My Thoughts:
This was a really good continuation of last season's cliffhanger. I thought it was pretty cool that Lex is the one that saved Clark's father... of course at this point there is still some good in Lex.

EPISODE 2: HEAT
Clark's emerging power of heat vision may be too hot to handle - it's triggered by thoughts of sex! He'll need to cool his jets to thwart an alluring new biology teacher who has an overwhelming power over men.

My Thoughts:
Another of my favorite episodes... Clark gets his Heat Vision. The teacher/Freak of the Week was played by the beautiful Krista Allen. Surprisingly When I looked in my Profiler I actually have very little with her in it.

EPISODE 3: DUPLICITY
Clark reveals his secret to his best friend after Pete discovers the spaceship. But knowing the truth makes Pete more than a participant in Clark's adventures: it also puts him in harm's way.

My Thoughts:
This is actually another of my favorite episodes. When he tells his best friend Pete Ross the truth about himself.... At the time of this show aired I thought it was a cool thing... that he needs someone he can trust and talk to about everything... and I think Pete Ross was perfect for this. Of course as was stated... as the years went one... more and more people found out... some of which either died or they used the old forget everything on. But I think at this point it really felt right for him to tell Pete.

EPISODE 4: RED
Lana is attracted to a leather-wearing biker dude who attends Smallville High. The guy's name: Clark Kent! He's undergone a dangerous transformation, and Pete and Jonathan are scrambling to discover why.

My Thoughts:
OK... I wouldn't say this is a favorite of mine... but is absolutely one I really enjoyed.Seeing the effects of Red Kryptonite on him. .. and I think Tom Welling did an awesome job with it. I actually know a couple female friends that watches the show... and prefers Clark with the Red Kryptonite.
