Initiation of Sarah (1978), a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Kay Lenz as Sarah Shelley Winters as Mrs. Erica Hunter Tony Bill as Paul Yates Kathryn Grant as Mrs. Goodwin Morgan Fairchild as Jennifer Lawrence Morgan Brittany as Patty Goodwin Plot: Sarah's (Kay Lenz) a shy co-ed with a shocking secret. While her outgoing sister (Morgan Brittany) easily gains entry into the most popular sorority, Sarah is cruelly rejected, soon finding a place for herself in one of the college's more bizarre sororities. When the facts are revealed about Sarah's frightening gifts, she must use her own dark powers to save herself. My Thoughts: This is a TV Movie from 1978 that I found early this morning on On-Demand to start off my yearly Month Long Horror Marathon. I have found that I really enjoy the TV Movies from the '70s... and have several in my DVD collection. This one is obviously a rip off of Carrie... only instead of set at a high school prom it is set in a college sorority during Hell Week. I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Would love to add it to my collection... but unfortunately this one was never released on DVD (though the remake with Summer Glau was). Though I do hope to eventually add it (as well as the remake) to my collection eventually. While this is an obvious rip-off of Carrie (girl with psychic and telekinetic powers)... they did change it up a little... and I am not just talking about the change from high school to college. But they also added the Shelley Winters character who plays the house mother for Sarah's sorority who also happens to be a witch. Anyway... this is one I definitely recommend. Especially if you are like me and enjoy the older TV Movies. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2DVD's Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon on October 1st, 2013) Bimbos B.C., a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Bimbos B.C. Year: 1990 Director: Todd Sheets Rating: NR Length: 68 Min. Video: Pan & Scan 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: Stars: Gina Rydeen Jenny Admire Lisa Cotton Bonnie Coy J.T. Taube Plot: A barbarian woman is attacked while on a routine hunting mission. She pulls herself to a building that turns to be a fortress for prehistoric bimbos! Extras: Scene Access My Thoughts: I thought it was about time for another one out of that low budget 50 movie boxset Mortuary of Madness that I got for about $15. I already enjoyed enough of the few movies I watched so far to make the purchase worth the price... but am hoping there will be more in it to enjoy. OK... I admit it. I got curios about this one from the title alone. Of course I went into this one expecting a big steaming pile of crap. Unfortunately that is exactly what I got this time. This movie... and I hate to even call it that... looked to be no more then a bunch of college buddies playing with an old VHS camcorder. The acting was pitiful... the effects was non-existent... and the video quality sucked. It looked like it came directly from an old VHS tape... with wavy lines and all. At least I don't feel too cheated since this movie did come in such a large boxset and I already felt I got my money worth before I even got to this one. But if I bought this one by itself I would have been extremely disappointed as this one would rank right there with The Sorority and The Curse of Lizzie Borden. I could not in good faith even give this movie a half a star. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 Zero (From Addicted2DVD's November Alphabet Marathon on November 7th, 2009) Tom's Buffy and Angel Marathon, a review by Tom20. The Prom (1999-05-11) Writer: Joss Whedon (Created By), Marti Noxon (Writer) Director: David Solomon Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers), Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia Chase), David Boreanaz (Angel), Seth Green (Oz), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Kristine Sutherland (Joyce Summers), Alexis Denisof (Wesley Wyndam-Pryce), Brad Kane (Tucker Wells), Emma Caulfield (Anya/Anyanka), Danny Strong (Jonathan), Bonita Friedericy (Mrs. Finkle), Andrea E. Taylor (Sales Girl), Mike Kimmel (Harv), Tove Kingsbury (Tux Boy), Michael Zlabinger (Student at Mic), Monica Serene Garnich (Pretty Girl), Joe Howard (Priest), Damien Eckhardt (Jack Mayhew), Stephanie Denise Griffin (Tux Girl) I liked how Buffy gets the "Class Protector" award at the end. This episodes makes way for the Angel series with Angel's decision to leave Sunnydale. In my opinion a good move. I got tired of the whole Buffy/Angel drama.
