Raging Bull, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Raging Bull: Special Edition Year: 1980 Director: Martin Scorsese Rating: R Length: 129 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, English: Dolby Digital Surround, French: Dolby Digital Mono, Spanish: Dolby Digital Mono, Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital Surround, Commentary: Dolby Digital Surround Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Trailers Featurettes Production Notes Closed Captioned Booklet Stars: Robert De Niro Cathy Moriarty Joe Pesci Frank Vincent Nicholas Colasanto Plot: Martin Scorsese's masterpiece Raging Bull ranks among the greatest cinematic achievements of all time. A searing story charting the rise and fall of middleweight champion Jake La Motta (Robert DeNiro), Raging Bull is "a superior achievement of film art" (Gene Siskel, Chicago Tribune). My Thoughts: This is the first time I seen this movie... but I have always heard good things about it. I went into this one trying not to expect too much... though that is a little difficult at times with titles such as this one. And that may have effected my enjoyment of this movie. I found it an odd, but entertaining choice to make a movie made in 1980 Black & White. But that didn't take away from the movie for me. While it is a very good movie... it was a bit slow in portions... especially once he retired from the ring. And I would have liked to have seen more boxing in the movie. Instead this felt more like a story of his life outside the ring and the boxing not taking as much importance to the movie. But as I said... I did still enjoy it quite a bit and I am glad I now have it in my collection. As for the DVD release... they really did this special edition up right. This release is loaded with extras... including 3 audio commentaries. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on September 29th, 2009) The National Tree, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Andrew McCarthy as Corey Burdock Evan Williams as Rock Burdock Kari Matchett as Faith Paula Brancati as Katie Jayne Eastwood as Lana Plot: Facing hardship and adventure as they travel America's heartland, father and son discover a bond they never knew existed and the true meaning of Christmas. Full of holiday spirit, The National Tree is a heartwarming and inspiring film for the entire family. Extras:
My Thoughts: Another Hallmark Channel Movie. This one originally aired November 28th, 2009. While I am sure there is some notable names in this one.... none that I am familiar with. Out of the 4 movie box set I got this in... this is the one I was most concerned about enjoying. While it is a slow paced film... it is one that grew on me. The longer I watched t the more I liked it. So of you try this one, be sure you stick with it. Rating: (From Christmas 2017 on December 1st, 2017) The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ DoenaHercules: The Legendary Journeys What's the show about? Hercules, son of the father of the gods, Zeus, travels through the world and helps villagers who are in danger. He fights warlords, demons and the creatures created by his stepmother Hera, the queen of the gods. "Hercules and the Amazon Woman" It's not exactly a pilot, it's the first of five TV movies that were made before the actual series. But it's as good as a pilot. A man comes to Hercules and Iolaus and asks for their help. His village is attacked by beasts. Hercules and Iolas accompany the man. But they are attacked by the beasts and Iolaus dies in it and Hercules learns that they are not beasts, but amazon warriors... My Opinion Hercules was a good show, although (as I said) I liked Xena more. (From The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon on January 4th, 2008) |
