Poltergeist, a review by Boomstick98

Poltergeist (1982)  ;D

Plot: A young family are visited by ghosts in their home. The youngest daughter seems to be connecting with the ghosts through a dead channel on the television. At first the ghosts appear friendly, moving objects around the house to the amusement of everyone, then they turn nasty and start to terrorise the family before they "kidnap" the youngest daughter.

My O: I had not watched this movie in many years, so I wanted to make it part of my marathon. 27 years after the movie was originally released this is still one of the best haunted house movies you will find. The effects in its time were really great and they still hold up pretty well today. The scene with the clown in the bedroom is really tense and creepy even now.  :tv: There aren't a lot of monsters jumping out at people all the time, but there doesn't have to be. Its fear of the unknown that really drives the film. I enjoyed the movie as much this time as I did the first time I saw it.

OverviewRoger Moore and Susannah York star in Wilbur Smith`s explosive 1974 international conspiracy thriller, set in the South African goldfields and directed by Peter Hunt (On Her Majesty`s Secret Service).

A ruthless global cabal of financial investors plan to manipulate the price of gold on the world market - by sabotaging one of South Africa`s top gold mines and flooding it with millions of gallons of water. All they need is someone to take the blame. Manager Rod Slater (Roger Moore) seems the perfect choice. He s brash, rough and impulsive - just the sort of man to make a fatal mistake. As Slater embarks on an affair with Terry (Suzannah York), the heiress granddaughter of mine owner Hurry Hirschfeld (Ray Milland), the conspiracy tightens all around him and thousands of lives hang by a thread...

Based on a best-selling novel by Wilbur Smith and filmed entirely on location in South Africa, Gold is an unforgettable thriller with a breath-taking climax and a fantastic cast which also includes John Gielgud and Bradford Dillman.

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys
Long ago... In a time of myth and legend, when ancient gods plagued man with suffering - only one man dared to challenge their power. Hercules!

The spectacular collection brings together all five full-length action-packed movies starring Kevin Sorbo as Hercules and Anthony Quinn as Zeus and includes the entire debut season in one epic collector's set. Kevin Sorbo's fresh, hip and good-natured spin on the legendary hero carried this witty, adventure-filled action drama to high critical acclaim. Smartly combining ancient myth with contemporary sensibilities, the series became one of television's highest rated programs.

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys Season One Collection Includes All Five Action-Packed Hercules Movies And All 13 Season One Episodes!

The Wrong Path
After Hercules and his friend Iolaus stopped a band of hoodlums from robbing an innkeeper, Hercules went home to his family. The horror that followed was over almost before it started. A huge ball of fire burst through his bedroom window and consumed his wife, Deianeira. In the next instant the fireball took Hercules' three young children. His step mother, Hera, was to blame. Consumed by hatred, Hercules set out on a path of destruction.

My Thoughts:
Another series I like a lot. But much like Xena: Warrior Princess... there is many episodes I am sure I never seen before. Unfortunately I was only able to get the first 2 seasons before the season sets went OOP. I really like how this series didn't forget where the last movie left off. It isn't like they just didn't acknowledge that Hercules had a family in the last movie. Once again after watching the pilot episode I really didn't want to stop watching the set!

My Rating:
