Category 6: Day of Destruction, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Thomas Gibson as Mitch Benson Nancy McKeon as Amy Harkin Chandra West as Rebecca Kerns Brian Markinson as Chris Haywood Nancy Sakovich as Jane Benson Plot: Nature strikes out with unfathomable fury as the unimaginable becomes a terrifying reality. Three twisters descend upon Las Vegas leaving a neon wasteland in their wake. Hurricanes tear through the Gulf Coast without warning. Record-high temperatures scorch the northeast. One-hundred-mile-an-hour winds tear across the south. Lightning storms ignite the sky. Wildfires blaze out of control. For Amy Harkin, a budding Chicago anchorwoman looking for her big break, the fear of these weather anomalies is second only to the dread of the inevitable repercussions: rolling coast-to-coast blackouts and the dwindling sources needed to revive them. With the worst power breakdown on record looming, an overload could cripple the nation and leave the entire population in the dark, without communication and vulnerable to unthinkable dangers. My Thoughts: This is a TV miniseries... and as it is with most tv movies and miniseries there is some familiar faces from other Television shows in it. In this case we have Thomas Gibson (Dharma & Greg) and Nancy McKdon (The Facts of Life). It is a good story and I definitely enjoyed it. But that being said it could definitely been better. I found that while some of the storm effects were cool... others was really lacking. I also found I just didn't care about some of the characters. But over all it is worth the watch. This one did get a sequel miniseries (Category 7: End of the World) which I enjoyed even more then this one. Definately not the best rom-com for both lead actors involved. In my opinion the relationship has no spark to it.Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on July 25th, 2010) Veronica Mars Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdSeason 1: Disc 6 Episode 21: A Trip to the Dentist "You want to know how I lost my virginity?" Veronica once asked. "So do I." Determined to discover who drugged and assaulted her at a party months earlier, she sifts through conflicting stories to find the truth. My Thoughts: This disc is where it really gets good... These are the 2 episodes where she puts together the 2 season long mysteries. This episode solves the mystery of who drugged and rapped her at that party. It also does a very good job at setting up the final episode of the season. I have never been a fan of Logan... so the Logan/Veronica relationship is something I never liked. Episode 22: Leave It to Beaver Sex, lies and videotape. Veronica solves the murder of Lilly Kane, but not without betraying someone she cares for -- and putting her own life at risk. My Thoughts: This is it... the final episode of the season... the one with all the answers (well mostly). This was a great episode. I think they did a great job at putting everything together. Overall Season 1 Thoughts: OK... I wouldn't try to say that every episode in this series is a winner... but it is damn close to it! Sure there is some better then others.. but I really can't think of a single episode that I didn't enjoy something about it. This is a great series... a modern day Nancy Drew. I personally would have liked to seen a few more extras in the set... there is some nice extras but not as much as I would have liked. But as I said... it is a great series... and I am looking forward to starting season 2 later today. (From Veronica Mars Marathon on August 26th, 2007) |
