Stand by Me, a review by addicted2dvd

My Thoughts: This is a movie I have always heard good things about. But it is the first time I ever got the chance to see it. There is a few people in this movie that I know from TV Series. There is Kiefer Sutherland (24), Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Jerry O'Connell (Sliders). This movie reminds me a bit of my childhood. A simpler time. A time when you could go out and play... exploring the neighborhood without your parents having to worry where you are every minute of the day. Something that just don't seem to exist anymore. Though the setting of this movie is well before my time... it still made me think of the simpler times when I was at that age. So much has changed since then. Unfortunately not for the better.I had some pretty high expectations going into this movie. I was hoping not too high... taking away from my enjoyment. Luckily that wasn't the case. As I really enjoyed every minute of it. The movie is a really good drama with just enough lightheartedness to off set it from becoming to dramatic. I especially got a kick out of when the kids out on their adventure had to cross through a lake in the woods. Coming out the other side discovering they were covered in leaches. If by chance... like me... you haven't had the chance to see this movie before... be sure to check it out soon. I highly recommend it. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From TV Stars in the Movies: On-Going Mega Marathon on June 14th, 2011) Zombieland, a review by Boomstick98Zombieland (2009) Plot: In the horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss -- but when you're afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee is an AK-toting, zombie-slaying' bad ass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies. My O: I haven't had this much fun at the Cinema in a long time. I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions. I'm ranking it right up there with Shaun of the Dead and Return of the Living Dead as one of the best comedy horror movies. Woody Harrelson was perfect as the quirky gun toting zombie slayer. There is also a suprise appearance by a Comedy Icon, but I will not ruin the suprise. Its not the slow moving Romero type zombies (which I usually prefer), but this movie was great. It only lasted 81 min, but I think it was perfect at that length. (From Boomstick's 2009 Horror Marathon on October 3rd, 2009) The Hunger: The Complete First Season, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Terence Stamp as Host Extras:
My Thoughts: I just finished the first season of this Anthology series that originally ran on Showtime in the mid '90s. It is a bit tough to review this set. I mean I enjoyed it quite a bit... but there is a lot of weird episodes in the set as well. I classify this as a horror anthology as it deals with vampires, ghosts and other supernatural beings. But then there is episodes that deals with normal murders and such as well. Since this series originally ran on Showtime each episode also has a bit of sex/nudity. Though nothing overly adult oriented. Each episode runs about 26min. Unfortunately I didn't care much for Terrance Stamp as the host. I even found myself fast forwarding through his little introductions to the episodes towards the end of the set. But over-all I would say it is worth checking out.My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on May 5th, 2012) |
