Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), a review by addicted2dvd

Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954

My Thoughts:
This is one I enjoyed very much. I thought the whole story was interesting. I would really like to see some of the sequels to this one... so it may be the next Legacy set that I get. the girl in this movie (Julie Adams) looks very familiar... but I just can't place where from. I looked for her listing in the rest of my collection... but nothing to familiar came up.

Well... that is it... finally did it. I completed all the Classic Universal Monster Movies that I have in my collection (a total of 18). I really enjoyed the past several days of watching these... over all I had a great time... nothing sticking out as a really bad movie in my opinion. Which is always a good thing. But I will admit over the last day or so I did start to feel like I was getting a little burned out on these. So I am kinda happy it is completed.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service, a review by GSyren

TitleOn Her Majesty's Secret Service
Year1969
DirectorPeter Hunt
StarsGeorge Lazenby, Diana Rigg, Telly Savalas
OverviewJames Bond goes undercover in the treacherous Swiss Alps in this action-packed epic filled with artillery-laden ski pursuits, incredible stunts and nonstop thrills! George Lazenby leaps into the role of Agent 007 with supreme confidence and undeniable charisma, even finding love with the beautiful and seductive Tracy Di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg). But first Bond must stop evil genius Blofeld (Telly Savalas) from realising a germ warfare plot that could kill millions!
My thoughtsWhen I first saw OHMSS back in 1969, I didn't like it very much. But that may have been because it was the first time Bond was played by another actor. For those of us who had seen all the previous Bond films, Sean Connery was James Bond. Nowadays George Lazenby doesn't seem so bad anymore. In fact, I quite like him. The downbeat ending may have been another reason why many people reacted negatively. However, this is more than made up for by the fantastic photography in the film. The ski sequencies filmed by Willy Bogner are quite amazing. The guy actually skies backwards while filming. Combined with some superb aerial photography this makes for some of the most spectacular ski sequencies ever. The film relies on action and very little on gadgets, which also makes a switch from the preceding Bonds. All in all a very enjoyable Bond film.

The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ Doena

MacGyver

What's the show about?
MacGyver is a very gifted man. He knows practically everything about mathematics, physics and chemistry. And he knows how to put that knowledge to practical use, he could build a bomb out of a ball-pen and a chewing gum. ;) He is sent out by the Phoenix Foundation to help out where he is needed.

"Pilot"
After reclaiming a targeting device from a crashed plane and the pilot from the hands of the Russians, MacGyver is needed in New Mexico. In an underground science laboratory happened an explosion. A lot of scientists are trapped within, among them two Nobel price candidates. Additionally an acid leaks threatens to contaminate the groundwater of the entire area...

My Opinion
What could I write without repeating myself? Magnificent show, especially with MacGyver's refusal to use guns. I'll rewatch it this year, after I've got all the seven seasons complete.
