BMX Bandits, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: BMX Bandits Year: 1983 Director: Brian Trenchard-Smith Rating: PG Length: 90 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: N/A Stars: David Argue John Ley Nicole Kidman Angelo D'Angelo James Lugton Bryan Marshall Plot: Two BMX expert bikers and a friend of theirs (Nicole Kidman) become entangled with a group of bank robbers after discovering a carton of walkie-talkies. Extras: Scene Access My Thoughts: When I found out my friend was sending me this movie in a box of DVDs I was pretty excited. Not only because it is an early role of Nicole Kidman of who I really enjoy. But also because when I was a teen I was big into riding my BMX bike all over town with my friends. Of course not to the extent of these kids.. but it still brought back some fond memories. As soon as I pop it in the first thing I noticed is that the DVD itself is a bit lacking. No extras on the disc what so ever. When you pop in the disc you only have 2 options... Play Movie and Scene Selection. Then I started the movie... and the quality... while not terrible... I mean it is watchable... but it it did feel like I was watching a fairly old VHS copy of the movie. I imagine they just used an old VHS master to make this release. The movie itself was entertaining... I enjoyed it. I found it to just be a fun movie. The kids were great on the bikes... makes me wonder how much was actually them riding. I be especially interested in how much of the actual bike riding Nicole Kidman actually did. Of course most the trick riding was shot from the back or close up shots of the bike itself.. so I imagine not so much of it was actually them. I just wish this movie got a better DVD release then what it did. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on August 22nd, 2010) Stan Helsing, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Steve Howey as Stan Diora Baird as Nadine Kenan Thompson as Teddy Desi Lydic as Mia Leslie Nielsen as Kay Plot: It's Halloween night, and video clerk Stan Helsing (Steve Howey of REBA) along with his sexy ex-girlfriend (Diora Baird of THE WEDDING CRASHERS and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING), his best buddy (Kenan Thompson of SNL) and an "exotic dancer/massage therapist" (Desi Lydic) - detour into a town cursed by parodies of 6 of the biggest monsters in movie history: Freddy (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET), Jason (FRIDAY THE 13TH), Pinhead (HELLRAISER), Leatherface (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE), Chucky (CHILD'S PLAY) and Michael Myers (HALLOWEEN). But when Stan discovers that he's a direct descendant of the legendary monster hunter Van Helsing, the four have to survive a night with the monsters, homicidal hitchhikers, vampire strippers, killer karaoke, and the temptations of lots of hot chicks. Did we mention that Leslie Nielsen of AIRPLANE! and THE NAKED GUN co-stars in this hysterical horror spoof written by one of the guys who brought you SCARY MOVIE? Now take this movie to the front of the store and pay the man! Extras:
My Thoughts: I used to be more into these spoof films then I am now. But I still enjoy one every now and then. This one is just average. It has a few decent laughs.... but for the most part it is just silly in a stupid way. Rating: (From Horror / Halloween 2017 Challenge on October 30th, 2017) The 2013 Pilot Review, a review by DJ DoenaTrophy Wife Trophy Wife @ IMDb Trophy Wife @ Wikipedia Synopsis:Watchmen) is the new "trophy wife" of twice-divorced and re-married lawyer Pete Harrison (Bradley Whitford, The West Wing) and now has to deal with his ex-wifes and his and their children. My Opinion: It's definitely not a must-see, but it does has its charm. It's a no laugh track sitcom which I think should be the way to go for a sitcom. I decide when I find something funny and not when a taped laugh signals me to. (From The 2013 Pilot Review on October 8th, 2013) |
