Sherlock Holmes, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Sherlock Holmes Year: 2009 Director: Guy Ritchie Rating: PG-13 Length: 128 Min. Video: Widescreen :1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 5.1, Spanish: Dolby Digital: 5.1 Subtitles: English, French, Spanish Stars: Robert Downey, Jr. Jude Law Rachel McAdams Mark Strong Eddie Marsan Robert Maillet Plot:Extras: Scene Access Bonus Trailers Featurettes My Thoughts: When I first saw the trailer for this movie I was nothing more then disappointed. So much so that I didn't even have an urge to see the movie. The trailer made it look like they changed Sherlock Holmes into a pure action character. Thankfully that was not the case in the movie. They did a great job of balancing the action and the classic deductive reasoning of the classic Sherlock Holmes. I am so glad that this movie was given to me... as I don't think I would have bothered buying it... and I have to admit that I loved every minute of it! Now here is where I expect to get flamed... I think they could have done a better job at casting Sherlock Holmes. To me Robert Downey, Jr. was only OK... passable in the role. Robert Downey, Jr. has always been hit or miss in my opinion... as I disliked him in just as many roles (if not more) then I actually liked him in. And while he did a fine job in the role... something just didn't seem quite right for some reason. Unlike his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man which I felt he was outstanding in. I loved the rest of the cast in their roles... but it just seemed like something was off on the main character of the movie. But that didn't take much away from my enjoyment of the movie... as I said... I still loved every minute of it. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Unwatched DVDs on August 6th, 2010) Them!, a review by GSyren
(From Reviews and ramblings by Gunnar on February 11th, 2014) [Rerun Marathon] Police Squad!, a review by Tom4/10 Rather weak episode in my opinion. There were no lines which stood out for me. (From [Rerun Marathon] Police Squad! on October 18th, 2007) |
