Friday the 13th, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Friday the 13th Movie Count: 90 TV Ep Count: 45 Other Count: 2 Time Started: 8am Plot: Terror and suspense abound in this 24-hour nightmare of blood. Camp Crystal Lake has been been shuttered for over 20 years due to several vicious and unsolved murders. The camp's new owner and several young counselors are readying the property for re-opening despite warnings of a "death curse" by local residents. The curse proves true on Friday the 13th as one by one each of the counselors is stalked by a violent killer. This film is widely acclaimed for its horrifying and creative murder sequences. My Thoughts: This is, of course, the one that started it all. Definitely a classic when it comes to horror. I feel it is a good movie... definitely worth watching... but I have seen better. I really liked the character of Alice in this one. For some reason I keep forgetting there is a young Kevin Bacon in this movie until I watch it again. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 (From My Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon: 2008 on October 29th, 2008) Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, a review by Tom
Stars: Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim Alison Pill as Kim Pine Mark Webber as Stephen Stills Johnny Simmons as Young Neil Ellen Wong as Knives Chau Plot: Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams - literally. But, there's one catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)...he has to meet and defeat her seven evil exes! From genre-smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) comes the amazing story of one romantic slacker's fight to POWER-UP with love - before it really is GAME OVER! Extras:
My Thoughts: I finally saw this much-hyped movie. I have to admit, that it has great special effects and fun editing. But like the comic, I really couldn't get into it. I have read the first volume of the comic and didn't have the urge to continue buying and reading it. Maybe someday I will. The movie feels like if you enjoy the comic, you will enjoy this adaption. Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on April 19th, 2011) The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ DoenaWhat's the show about? The sitcom revolves around the lives of three physicists, one engineer and one waitress. The two physicists Sheldon and Leonard live across the hall from Penny the waitress. Leonard is in love with Penny but she hasn't responded yet. Sheldon and Leonard are often visited by their friends Rajesh and Howard (the latter one being the engineer) and when their world clashes with Penny's hilarity ensues. "Pilot" Leonard and Sheldon have just aborted a high IQ sperm donation when they discover that they have a new neighbour: Penny, a waitress at "The Cheesecake Factory". When Penny takes a shower in their apartment (and hopefully doesn't discover the Darth Vader shampoo or the Luke Skywalker conditioner) she asks Leonard for a favour... My Opinion One of my favourite sitcoms of all time. The five are so hilarious together with Sheldon being the heyday of most episodes. Sheldon is totally unaware of his rudeness and his arrogance and it's great fun to watch him and the others. I can't wait for the third season to begin next week and I am glad that the network has already ordered a fourth season. (From The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon on September 17th, 2009) |
