I'm with Lucy, a review by addicted2dvd

I'm with Lucy
Dumped by the man she thought was perfect for her; newly-single Lucy (Monica Potter, 'Along Came a Spider') continues her search for Mr. Right. Set up on a series of blind dates, she meets five handsome and eligible bachelors, each with their own charms...and flaws. There's the macho jerk (Anthony LaPaglia, 'Analyze That'), the sexual dynamo (Gael Carcia Bernal, 'Y Tu Mama Tambien'), the handsome surgeon (David Boreanaz, TVs 'Angel'), the divorced writer (John Hannah, 'The Mummy Returns') and the uptight executive (Henry Thomas, 'All the Pretty Horses'). Has she finally met the man of her dreams or will her dating nightmare never end?

'I'm with Lucy' is a charming and endearing romantic comedy in the tradition of 'Bridget Jones's Diary' and 'Serendipity'.

My Thoughts:
What to say about this movie.... hmmmmm... well... it is a decent movie... but far from great. For a romantic comedy... it seemed to me that it lacked a bit in the comedy department. Sure... there was a cute scene here and there... but nothing I would call funny. This movie has 1 person that is very familiar to me... that being David Boreanaz who of course was Angel in the series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel"... not to mention that he plays Booth in series "Bones". In this movie he plays Luke... one of the guys that dated Lucy. But he did play a bit of a jerk. Like I said... this was a decent movie... but if you feel like checking it out... don't go into it expecting too much.

Un vie de chat, a review by Danae Cassandra

Un vie de chat (A Cat in Paris)
Year of Release:  2010
Starring: Dominique Blanc, Bernadette Lafont, Bruno Salomone, Jean Benguigui, Oriane Zani
Directed  By:  Jean-Loup Felicioli, Alain Gagnol
Genre: Adventure, Crime

Overview:My Thoughts:
What a great little film! It's very much like an old-style heist film, with quite a bit of action, a debonair thief, a dedicated policewoman, and a vicious thug - oh, and a smart, elegant cat.

The cat is also perfectly a cat - not a talking cat, just a regular cat. He has some perfectly cat-like expressions and movement too. The part where he looks up at the nanny with one eye open, looking bored, is simply spot-on for a cat.

It's hard to say what is so charming about this film - the plot is pretty simple and straightforward, the characters are all well-done but nothing extraordinary, the designs are kind-of Picasso-esque but also very simple, there's a bit of comedy, some chases, some action - but everything comes together in a really delightful way.

The hand-drawn art is very simple, stylized, but perfectly effective. It achieves a great middle ground - not hyper-realistic where the art is trying to simulate reality (if you wanted live action, why not film in it?) and not the crude, ugly style that has seemingly come to dominate television animation these days. The film also has great color and makes good use of light and shadow. Art-wise I was most reminded of The Triplets of Bellville, since the people aren't drawn to be extremely pretty, but are more stylized - and yet, more realistic at the same time.

Not for the youngest set (the gangsters and gunplay might be a bit much) and not for the "I'm too cool for cartoons" set either (it lacks the requisite wisecracks, sarcasm and hit-you-over-the-head overt pop culture references), but perfectly enjoyable to anyone else. Highly recommended.

Bechdel Test:  Pass

Overall:  4.25/5

The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ Doena

Lost

What's the show about?
Does anyone really know that? Officially it's about the survivors of a plane crash who are stranded on a very strange island that is inhabited by even stranger people and "things".

"Pilot"
Oceanic 815 from Sydney to Los Angeles gets way off course and then crashes on an island. The survivors try to get in contact with the rescue party and make theirselves as comfortable as possible until the rescue arrives...

My Opinion
It's a very interesting show, but I have given up to figure out what the island is about, or the Others. For me it's now a great character survey and as that it still works great.
