Audition, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Audition: Uncut Special Edition Year: 1999 Director: Takashi Miike Rating: Unrated Length: 110 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: Japanese: Dolby Digital: 5.1, Japanese: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: English, Spanish Stars: Ryo Ishibashi Eihi Shiina Tetsu Sawaki Jun Kunimura Renji Ishibashi Miyuki Matsuda Plot: A middle-aged widower is urged by his teenage son and a film producer friend to start dating again. They devise a plan to hold a phony film audition to meet new women. The widower falls for a beautiful ballerina with a suspicious past, and their courtship veers from polite romance to psycho-nightmare! Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Bonus Trailers Featurettes Gallery Interviews Closed Captioned My Thoughts: I have been curious about this film for some time now. Seen several good reviews for it. And I basically agree. Though I did have a bit of trouble with the subtitles. I am a rather slow reader so there was some pausing and rewinding going on... even though most the dialog was fairly short and to the point.... some of it was not. I like how they built up this movie... basically going from a drama to a psychotic horror movie. There is some graphic violence in this one. It is a pretty disturbing film. And it is one that will leave you thinking well after the movie is over. If you never seen this one... it is definitely worth checking out. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From The Movies From Within My Lifetime on April 21st, 2011) For Your Eyes Only, a review by Dragonfirehttp://www.invelos.com/mpimages/02/027616066602.3f.jpg James Bond is thrust into one of his most riveting adventures in this jam-packed free-for-all of outrageous stunts, passionate encounters and exciting confrontations. Roger Moore portrays Agent 007 with lethal determination in a plot that finds him infiltrating the Greek underworld and racing against time to find a stolen device capable of controlling a fleet of nuclear submarines. My Thoughts This is a decent addition to the Bond movie series, though it isn't as strong as some of the other movies. There is good action, including more impressive ski scenes. The main villain isn't anything special. The women were fine. Thankfully James resisted Bebe. She was entirely too young for him. Her being interested in James wasn't as believable. I like the movie, but it is just sort of an average Bond movie. The best part of the movie is the theme song. I still have to watch the extras and I'll get a review typed up to post on Epinions eventually. Thieves who possess a sleep-inducing machine plan to pick banks and jewelry stores clean while everyone in Central City experiences a deep slumber. Guest Stars: Bill Mumy as Roger Braintree Richard Belzer as Joe Kline Matt Landers as Harry Milgrim Vito D'Ambrosio as Bellows Biff Manard as Murphy Mike Genovese as Lt. Warren Garfield My Thoughts: A good episode. I did like seeing Barry Allen in a bit of trouble... needing to clear his name. Made for an interesting episode. This one has Bill Mumy in it. I know there was a kid actor in a few episodes of the original Twilight Zone by that name. But I have to wonder if this is the same person or not. I say that because this show was made in 90/91 and he only looked to be in his mid 20s. Though I guess he could have just looked young for his age and be in the mid 30s here. Making it possible I guess. My Rating: (From The Flash Marathon on April 26th, 2010) |
