Nana 2, a review by TomMOVIE / DVD INFO: Title: NANA 2 Year: 2006 Director: Kentaro Otani Rating: Category IIA Length: 130 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85 Audio: Japanese: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: Chinese, English Stars: Yui Ichikawa Mika Nakashima Nobuo Kyou Tetsuji Tamayama Hongo Kanata Plot: Two Girls with the same name but from very different upbringings, one dreaming of stardom and the other in pursuit of personal fulfillment, take on new challenges as they seek to mature in their personal and professional lives. Despite diametrically opposed personalities, both find in each other a mutual "complementarity" that fuels each other's dreams of happiness and success. But life never stands still, and when reality steps in with challenges that begin eroding the foundations of their friendship, the two Nanas find themselves clinging to a promise they made to see a summer fireworks display together as a symbol of hope that their destinies are still tied. My Thoughts: Watchable sequel but far from the first movie. And of what I have read, whereas the first movie was praised by fans of the manga whereas this sequel was a major disappointment for them.Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on May 10th, 2008) Transformers, a review by goodguyI don't often feel like writing "real" reviews, so I will put short comments on the DVDs I have watched in this thread. I start with a recap of my August viewage.
Shia LaBeouf reminded me a little of the young John Cusack, Megan Fox looked really hot and can fix cars, the parents (Mitzi from SFU, yeah) were delightful. Come to think of it, the script was in large parts surprisingly charming and funny for an action blockbuster (well, except for the p*ss jokes). Bay has great connections to the military and showed off their stuff well, the machine thingies looked great, but got a bit boring towards the end. All in all, much better than I expected. (From goodguy's Watch Log on August 31st, 2008) Tom's Random Reviews, a review by TomTitle: Drawn Together: Season Three Year: 2006 Director: Rating: NR Length: 308 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: Stars: Plot: All the blood, puke and boobs you love are back for the third and final season of Drawn Together. The dirtiest, deadliest, sexiest, and funkiest Drawn Together season ever features MORE animated blood, MORE animated vomit, and MORE animated nipples. Watch as Captain Hero tortures his 12-year-old self, Ling-Ling gets put into foster care, and Toot finally gets worshipped as the cow she is. It's what happens when cartoon characters stop being real and start being animated. Awards: Closed Captioned Trailers My Thoughts: It has been awhile since I saw the first two seasons, but I remember them being much more fun. It feels like they were doing the same jokes over and over again and were just trying to outgross themselves each time.I enjoyed the Muppet Babies parody though. One of the reasons I didn't really enjoy it is, that Toots gets too much screentime. It is the one character I do not enjoy at all. Her sole purpose seems to be make jokes about her ugly body (which was still somewhat funny in season 1, but now is really tired) and the voice of hers just gets on my nerve.
