OK, so I couldn't wait any longer to watch this movie 
I have read the first 5 volumes of the manga so far and it was enough to not spoil later volumes by watching this movie. I had lowered my expectations for this movie because of this thread but I must say, that this wouldn't have been necessary. I really liked this movie adaptation of the manga. Of course the movie deviates from the manga, but I think they made the right choices. The manga is mostly characters talking. Which is great for the manga, but would have not been fitting for a movie. Plotwise the first half of the movie follows more or less the manga. The second half uses a lot of elements from the manga but leaves out a lot and changes a lot of things.
Regarding the two main characters:
Light: In the beginning I almost thought they had ruined this character. He was too hot-headed. But I think during the course of the movie he becomes closer to his manga counterpart.
L: He was surprisingly true to his manga counterpart! He was also the main reason I couldn't wait to take a look at this movie. When I saw screenshots of him in the booklet, I was surprised to see how closely he resembles the character of the manga. So I wanted to see, if his mannerism is also true to the manga. Now I will have to wait until June, when the 12th volume of the manga is released in Germany, to be able to see the second movie. I will probably become weak long before then

Plot:
It's her 16th birthday, and Sabrina (MELISSA JOAN HART) is feeling a little strange. She just transferred to a new school, moved in with her two otherworldly aunts, and nothing is quite what it seems. Things can only get more complicated when Sabrina learns that she's a real witch. Now, she's got to make friends, memorize spells, and find a way to get a date for the school dance. It'll take a little hocus-pocus and a whole lot of adventure before Sabrina learns to control her powers and find true love.

After watching the first episode of the series for my TV pilot marathon I thought I take the chance and rewatch the TV movie which came before it.
It's a nice movie. Strange to see it with real sets and outdoor location shooting instead of a sitcom set.
The aunts are played by different actors. Only two actors are here the same as in the series. Of course one is Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina. The other one is the actress playing Sabrina's friend in the first season. She plays the same character here albeit with a different name.
Harvey is two separate characters in this movie. One is a geeky character called Harvey who is in love with Sabrina. The other one is a jock played by a young Ryan Reynolds. In the series they merged these two characters into one.
Another familiar face is Laura Harris (Daisy in Dead Like Me), who plays one of the friends of the Libby-type character. Though her role is really small.

9. There's Something About Leo
Leo's announcement that he is an Avatar causes pandemonium in The Charmed Ones' lives. Blood is shed when the distracted sisters are unable to fulfill their duty to protect the life of an Innocent.

My Thoughts:
A good... but not great episode... it is one of those episodes I call a "what if Episode"... where something is brought out into the open... just for the one episode to see how things would turn out.  There is nothing really special about this episode... but it isn't bad either.

10. Witchness Protection
Leo is forced to protect the Seer upon the Avatars' insistence that she has information that can help destroy the demons while Agent Brody shares his darkest secret with Paige.

My Thoughts:
This episode I really enjoyed a lot... unfortunately this is the last episode to guest star Charisma Carpenter.

11. Ordinary Witches
The underworld's most powerful demon transfers The Charmed Ones' powers to innocent bystanders who run amok with their new abilites.

My Thoughts:
A good episode... but once again nothing really special.

12. Extreme Makeover: World Edition
With the impending doom of the Avatars' Utopian transformation of the world where all humans must be put to sleep, The Charmed Ones become victims of a paranoia spell that attracts and kills an Avatar.

My Thoughts:
Once again an alright episode. For some reason I never really cared about the whole Avatar storyline. I am just glad that the Avatar storyline didn't last the whole season.
