The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, a review by addicted2dvd

The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc

My Thoughts:
This was a complete bind buy for me... as before I ordered it I never even seen the trailer for this movie. But I have always liked the story of Joan of Arc. I also been a fan of Milla Jovovich for a while now... who stars in the title role. Thinking back this may be the first movie on Joan of Arc that I ever seen... at least as far as I can remember. Because of that... I can not compare this movie to any other... but I can say I enjoyed every minute of it. This movie clocks in at 2hrs. and 38min. but I enjoyed it so much it felt like a fraction of that time. I feel this movie was definitely worth the $5 I paid for it.

Rating:

NOTE TO JON:
Hey Jon... let me say if for you! Watching this movie I got to see plenty of blood... arms and legs getting cut off... and more then one beheading! With a movie like this... who needs horror!

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, a review by DJ Doena

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

William Shatner ... Admiral James T. Kirk
Leonard Nimoy ... Captain Spock
DeForest Kelley ... Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy
James Doohan ... Cmdr. Montgomery "Scotty" Scott
Walter Koenig ... Pavel Chekov
George Takei ... Hikaru Sulu
Nichelle Nichols ... Cmdr. Uhura
Bibi Besch ... Dr. Carol Marcus
Merritt Butrick ... Dr. David Marcus
Paul Winfield ... Capt. Clark Terrell
Kirstie Alley ... Lt. Saavik
Ricardo Montalban ... Khan Noonien Singh

The Enterprise has become a training ship under the command of Spock. And Kirk can't handle the fact that he getting old. But suddenly Kirk gets an emergency call from an old girlfriend because someone's out there who wants to even the score.

My opinion:
Khan is the best advisary a Starfleet captain could wish for. Only General Chang can level with him and both happen to have an interest in english literature. ;) As to Spock: As much as I hate it when they kill good characters I have the utmost respect for someone who can apply the third principle of sentient life*.
In my opinion there is a logic hole in the movie (although only a Trekkie would think of it) when it comes to Genesis: I can't imagine that the Federation would really be willing to let the Genesis experiment go so far. The arguments McCoy used must have come up earlier and they had to see how dangerous such a thing could be.

*The third principle of sentient life is the capacity for self-sacrifice, the conscious ability to override evolution and self-preservation for a cause, a friend, a loved one.

Charmed Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Disc 6:

21. Kill Billie: Vol. 2
In order to defeat Billie and Christy, The Charmed Ones conjure The Hollow, the most powerful force known to man, which leads to a devastating battle.

My Thoughts:
This is the first half of the big battle.... a battle that goes terribly wrong. This was done very well... was a great episode.

22. Forever Charmed
Piper enlists Coop's help to travel back in time and change the events that lead to the deaths of Phoebe and Paige.

My Thoughts:
What can I say other then this is an awesome ending to an awesome series. This episode is full of emotion from the beginning to the end. I loved everything about how this series ended... how it ended for the sisters... and how it ended for Billie. If there was one thing I had to complain about it would have to be the fact that they couldn't bring Prue back... not even use a picture of her. But unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. And I do understand that they just weren't able to do it.

Over-All Season 8 Thoughts:
I feel that the series ended on a high note... I really enjoyed the season from beginning to end. The new cast fit in well. All the stories were enjoyable. And I loved every second of revisiting it. The DVD release is great for this season too. For the first time in the entire series we finally got some extras! Although there is a downside to this set. And that is with the opening theme. For some reason they decided to replace the opening theme to some generic music. Now this is no big deal to me personally because I am not a music fan... and I do chapter skip past the opening anyway... but I do know this is a big deal for a lot of people... so felt the need to mention it here.

I really had a great time with this marathon... and almost feel like starting all over again with season 1! But I won't do that... it is time to focus on another show. So look for my next marathon on the TV Series Birds of Prey real soon!
