In the 1970's, Dickie Roberts (David Spade) held the keys to success as a child star with a hit TV series. Now the only keys Dickie holds are the ones that start the customer's cars that he parks as a valet attendant for a Hollywood restaurant.

Desparate to revive his acting career, Dickie tries to audition for a role in Rob Reiner's new movie but the director doesn't believe Dickie is normal enough to play the part. Determined to get the role, Dickie hires a "typical" family to give him the real-life upbringing he never had. But once Dickie moves in, the family's life becomes anything but normal as Dickie unleashes his wild inner child... and learns in the process some unforgettable lessons about fame, fortune and family values.

My Thoughts:
I really wasn't sure what to think going into this movie. I thought it looked pretty silly going by the trailer. And it definitely was that. But I enjoyed it quite a bit all the same. I found it to be  just a fun show. Silly as can be in parts... but lots of fun. Of course it probably helped that I was familiar with a lot of the child stars that made appearances in this movie. And there is a lot of them that make an appearance. Matter of fact there is a montage of them right before the end credits where they all get together singing a song about being child stars. Not to mention a good handful through-out the movie as well. I did get a few good chuckles out of the movie. But those chuckles were pretty few and far between. I think recognizing the child stars was where I got most of my enjoyment from in this one.

My Thoughts:
This is one was in a box of DVDs that a friend had given me. It is one of those bad Sci-Fi Channel movies that they are always airing. So I went into this one with very low expectations... and it is pretty much what you would expect.  All the serpents, dragons and other creatures that they created with CGI was decent enough for the budget I imagine they had to work with (maybe the higher end of a low budget)... so weren't the greatest... but with the subject matter they looked pretty cool. With that being said... it did entertain me. I don't know... I guess I just like a good bad movie every so often. And this one qualified. The movie had Jason Behr in it. If that name sounds familiar to you... it is probably because he was one of the stars of the TV Series Roswell. The story left a bit to be desired as well of course. But over-all a decent way to waste an hour and a half... but at the same time it is something that you really have to be in the mood to watch.

Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom

The Comeback: The Complete Only Season (2005/United States)
IMDb | Wikipedia

(United States)
Length:376 min.
Video:Full Frame 1.33:1
Audio:English: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo, Spanish: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
Subtitles:English, French, Spanish

Plot:
For fallen star Valerie Cherish - former B-list sitcom actress desperate to revive her career - no proce is too high to pay for clinging to the television spotlight. Valerie agrees to be the subject of an intrusive reality television show, with cameras following her every move as she lands the part of "Aunt Sassy" in a tedious new sitcom, Room and Bored.

Lisa Kudrow stars in this uncomfortably funny and insightfully biting comedy series from writer Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City).
In the spirit of reality television, there seems to be no end to the humiliating circumstances Valerie Cherish will endure, all in the name of fame.

The Comeback
1.01 The Comeback (Pilot)
Writer: Michael Patrick King (Writer), Lisa Kudrow (Writer)
Director: Michael Patrick King
Cast: Lisa Kudrow (Valerie Cherish), Malin Akerman (Juna), Robert Bagnell (Tom Peterman), Lance Barber (Paulie G), Robert Michael Morris (Mickey), Laura Silverman (Jane), Damian Young (Mark Berman), Kellan Lutz (Chris), Jason L. Olive (Jesse), Kimberly Kevon Williams (Shayne), Jim Bentley), Bill Escudier (Milo), Kim Fields (Herself), Marla Garlin), Nathan Lee Graham (Peter), Marilu Henner (Herself), Lillian Hurst (Esperanza), Andres Londono), Morann Peri), Jonathan Stark), Tom Virtue (Assistant Director), James Burrows (Himself (uncredited))

This series is the raw footage of a fictional reality TV series about the comeback of a has-been actress played by Lisa Kudrow. I liked the behind the scene stuff of the sitcom she has started to be part of. But I am not much of a fan of the reality TV style.
