The Hollow, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Kevin Zegers as Ian Kaley Cuoco as Karen Nick Carter as Brody Ben Scott as The Headless Horseman Stacy Keach as Claus Von Ripper Judge Reinhold as Carl Plot: Restless spirits stir this Hollow's Eve, beckoning Ian Cranston (Kevin Zegers, Dawn of the Dead), the last blood relative of Ichabod Crane, back to Sleepy Hollow. Thundering hooves unleash a wave of bone-chilling screams as the ghost of the Headless Horseman rides again! Ian must try to save the town and his girlfriend, Karen (Karley Cuoco, "8 Simple Rules") and determine wheather the sword-wielding stalker is their clownish classmate, Brody (Nick Carter, Backstreet Boys) in costume, or the dark rider himself. If it's truly the Headless Horseman...how do you kill what's already dead? Extras:
My Thoughts: I got this DVD 6 years ago mainly because it stars Kaley Cuoco (Penny on The Big Bang Theory)... and I enjoyed this film so much that I have watched it every year for my October marathon since getting it! Well to be fair... I always enjoyed the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. And the fact that it has someone I know from weekly TV series is always a bonus. In this particular film the movie takes place in present day... which is nice change of pace for the story (well we do have the TV Series now.. but...). Recommended! My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2DVD's Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon on October 2nd, 2013) The Nun, a review by KinkyCyborgI feel a little ashamed that I'm not actively participating in the horror marathon that's taking place here. Not being able to confidently commit the time to watch a decent string of horror movies coupled with my obsessive compulsive need to stick with my viewing system makes it hard for me to put forth a worthy effort. I will try to get a horror movie or two in before the month ends. Title:The Nun Year: 2005 Director: Luis De La Madrid Rating: R Length: 102 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: Spanish Stars:Plot: Years ago, a cruel and merciless nun turned boarding school into a living hell for her students until they could no longer bear the abuse . . . then she mysteriously disappeared. Now the alumnae are being brutally murdered one by one. Feeling a familiar and evil presence, the survivors regroup to save their lives and lay the nun to rest one final time. Extras: Feature Trailers Featurettes Closed Captioned My Thoughts: I didn't mind this at all. Apart from a few moments of terrible acting I thought it was a fresh concept, some original kills, and it held the story together pretty well right through to the end. An average entry in the horror genre but much better than I was expecting. KC Rating: (From KinkyCyborg's Random Reviews 2010 on October 11th, 2010) My PILOT Marathon, a review by RichTitle: Fat Friends: Series One Certificate:15 Year:2000 Plot:Series 1 of ITV1's BAFTA nominated comedy drama Fat Friends has finally arrived on DVD. Meet Betty, Kelly, Lauren, Alan, Val, Jamie, Aysha and Joan. They are all shapes and sizes and come from all walks of life but there's something which unites them all - a constant struggle with their weight. Every week, the group meets up at 'Superslimmers' for the all-important weigh-in. Will it be euphoria at the loss of a couple of pounds - or desperation when the scales reveal that elusive target weight is slipping further away? Written by Kay Mellor (Girls' Night, Playing the Field, Band of Gold) and starring Alison Steadman (Abigail's Party, Shirley Valentine), Gaynor Faye (Coronation Street), Josie Lawrence (Whose Line Is It Anyway?) and Janet Dibley (Eastenders). 1 Love Me Slender My Review: Family friendly comedy, focussing on the current fascination of dieting and fat clubs, with the obvious jokes associated with such. Some good laugh out loud moments, but generally not enough to inspire immediate further viewing of the series nor anything but an average rating. Interesting to see Ruth Jones and James Corden (writers and stars of Gavin & Stacey) in early roles. plus Alison Steadman who plays Gavins mum. (From My PILOT Marathon on September 28th, 2009) |
