The Exorcism of Emily Rose, a review by Rich

Title: The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Movie Count:8
TV Ep. Count:7

Runtime:122
Certificate:NR
Year:2005
Genres:Horror, Drama

Plot:Oscar® nominees Laura Linney (2000, Best Actress, You Can Count on Me) and Tom Wilkinson (2001, Best Actor, In The Bedroom) delve into the supernatural in this thriller based on a true story that will test your resolve, and ultimately your faith.
Emily Rose (Jennifer Carpenter, White Chicks) was an average teenage girl who was the target of terrifying demonic forces that would ultimately shock a town and torment her soul. But was she, as many believed, possessed? In an attempt to clear the clergyman who exorcised Emily, a skeptical attorney (Linney) awakens to the discovery that powerful spiritual forces may actually exist. This harrowing film unfolds like a recurring nightmare from which there is no waking.

My Review:
This is the first film that has actually 'scared' me since the beginning of marathon, in fact I now feel a bit crapped out.
It's a strange mix of flashbacks to the possession and exorcism, and the courtroom drama as the priest was put on trial. The argument of faith vs doubt was interesting, and the excellent cast did a great job in providing atmosphere and reality.
The horror is not jump out of your skin style, it is the fact that this story is based on a true trial, and potentially and frighteningly the happenings to the girl (Jennifer Carpenter) may be real.
There are plotholes aplenty, but the direction and convincing acting make this well above average.
My Rating
Out of a Possible 5

The Mummy, a review by Dragonfire

Deep in the Egyptian desert, a handful of people searching for a long-lost treasure have just unearthed a 3,000 year old legacy of terror. Combining the thrills of a rousing adventure with the suspense of Universal's legendary 1932 horror classic, THE MUMMY, starring Brendan Fraser, is a true nonstop action epic, filled with dazzling visual effects, top-notch talent and superb storytelling.

My Thoughts

I still really enjoy this movie.  It is a fun adventure and there is a decent amount of action and humor throughout the movie as well.  The characters are entertaining and I think the cast is good.  The effects are done well, though a few things look a bit dated now.  The plot is kind of silly and not realistic at all, but it still makes for a fun, entertaining movie that is worth seeing.  It isn't something that appeal to everyone though.

Weekend Movie Marathon: TV Show Reunion Movies, a review by addicted2dvd

A Very Brady Christmas
Mike and Carol Brady decide to spend their savings on bringing their kids and relatives in for the holidays, but the kids are having their own problems: Greg (now a doctor) has to make the trip alone since his wife Nora is spending the holidays with her family; Peter is embarrassed to bring his girlfriend home since she is his boss; Bobby is hiding the fact that he dropped out of business grad school to race cars; Marcia's husband, Wally, has been laid off from his job at Tyler Toys; Jan and stuffy husband Phillip are separating; and Cindy is tired of the fact that mom and dad can't respect her as a grown woman. Just another day in the life of the Bradys.

My Thoughts:
I wasn't sure I was quite ready for this reunion movie... especially with it being so far out of season. But when Brittany found out I was doing reunion movies for this weekend's marathon... she really wanted to watch the Brady Bunch ones with me. So we decide to go ahead and do it. As I have said while watching the complete series set... I personally always enjoyed the reunion movies more then the series itself. I can say I have a new appreciation for the series... as I enjoyed it more then I thought I would when I watched it again... but think I still prefer the reunion movies. Some reason I really enjoy seeing the Brady kids all grown up. But I do believe this is the last time I will watch this particular reunion movie till the Holiday season comes!
