Army of Darkness, a review by addicted2dvd

Army of Darkness
The one and only Bruce Campbell stars as Ash, a hapless housewares clerk time-warped back to the Dark Ages by the demonic power of the Necronomicon. Now armed with only a '73 Oldsmobile, his trusty chainsaw and a 12-gauge double-barreled S-Mart shotgun, our knucklehead hero must battle vicious she-bitches, a diabolical Evil Ash and the relentless hordes of the medieval dead in the most outrageously spectacular horror comedy ever made. Get ready for some sugar, baby: this is 'ARMY OF DARKNESS - THE BOOMSTICK EDITION!'

My Thoughts:
All the sudden I was in the mood for something fun.... something silly yet something horror related. So what better to pop in then Army of Darkness? I have watched Army of Darkness many times... but this is only the second time I watched the Director's Cut. I think I enjoy the Director's cut a little better then the theatrical version... I like that final laugh that they give you at the end of the Director's Cut.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

The Butterfly Effect, a review by Silence_of_Lambs

The Butterfly Effect

Summary:
A young man (Ashton Kutcher) blocks out harmful memories of significant events of his life. As he grows up, he finds a way to remember these lost memories and a supernatural way to alter his life.

My Thoughts:
This was the second time I watched this movie.
I didn't quite like it the first time and rewatched it today (two years after the first attempt), because I'm frequently told that this is a great movie and I surely must have missed something important if I don't like it.

I still don't really like it, probably never will!
And that for two reasons:
1. Ashton Kutcher is a terrible actor, even though for his capabilities he's doing quite well here, it's still far below what a talented actor might have made of this role.
2. The script is full of plausibility leaks! A Fantasy movie on time travel doesn't have to be realistic (how could it be that?), but at least it should keep to the logical system it set up. While I can accept that those who caused the change of the present still have memories of the alternative pasts, it's hard to see why some of the involved have this too and others don't.

I admit that it's quite entertaining (provided you keep your brain in "Sleep Mode") and has an interesting story, but that's about it.

My Rating: (out of possible 5)

Doctor Who Marathon, a review by Tom

Doctor Who
Series 1.11 Boom Town
Writer: Russell T Davies (Writer)
Director: Joe Ahearne
Cast: Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Billie Piper (Rose Tyler), William Thomas (Mr Cleaver), Annette Badland (Margaret), John Barrowman (Captain Jack), Noel Clarke (Mickey), Mali Harries (Cathy), Aled Pedrick (Idris Hopper), Alan Ruscoe (Slitheen)

The storyline is nothing special, but there are some nice character moments in this episode. It handles how Mickey feels that Rose is travelling with the doctor and there are some fun scenes with Captain Jack.
