Ring Around The Rosie, a review by RichTitle: Ring Around The Rosie Movie Count:26 TV Ep. Count:16 Runtime:88 Certificate:R Year:2005 Genres:Horror Plot:In this electrifying suspense thriller, your deepest fears become reality. Following her grandmother's last wish, Karen (Gina Philips, Jeepers Creepers) reluctantly travels to a remote, run-down mansion to sell the family estate where she grew up. Karen soon realizes that she's not alone at the property. Living in the shanty at the horse stables is Pierce (Tom Sizemore, Heat), an odd and mysterious caretaker. With every passing night as she rummages through the dusty house, Karen's fond memories of her childhood turn into nightmares. Haunted, Karen feels relief when her sister arrives, but things only spiral out of control when Pierce becomes increasingly more violent. Suddenly both women find themselves trapped in a house that preys on their greatest fears. Karen has no choice but to face the horrible memory she thought she put behind her and walk the line between bad memories and deadly reality. My Review: Not the worst effort I've ever watched, but certainly below par. The direction, production and acting was as expected in this low budget flick, although Tom Sizemore stood out as a pretty convincing nutter. The whole thing falls apart with about as flimsy a storyline as the 2 sisters clothes were, and the ending only made you think was it worth watching in the first place? A lack of tension, horror, suspense or drama puts this effort into the easily forgettable category. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 (From Rich's October Horror Fest on October 22nd, 2009) The Exorcism of Emily Rose, a review by addicted2dvdTV Stars in the Movies Marathon Title: The Exorcism of Emily Rose Year: 2005 Director: Scott Derrickson Rating: NR Length: 122 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.40:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, Commentary: Dolby Digital Surround Subtitles: English Stars: Laura Linney as Erin Bruner Tom Wilkinson as Father Moore Campbell Scott as Ethan Thomas Jennifer Carpenter as Emily Rose Colm Feore as Karl Gunderson Star(s) of TV Series:
Plot:You Can Count on Me) and Tom Wilkinson (2001, Best Actor, In The Bedroom) delve into the supernatural in this thriller based on a true story that will test your resolve, and ultimately your faith. Emily Rose (Jennifer Carpenter, White Chicks) was an average teenage girl who was the target of terrifying demonic forces that would ultimately shock a town and torment her soul. But was she, as many believed, possessed? In an attempt to clear the clergyman who exorcised Emily, a skeptical attorney (Linney) awakens to the discovery that powerful spiritual forces may actually exist. This harrowing film unfolds like a recurring nightmare from which there is no waking. Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Bonus Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This makes only the second time I seen this movie since I got it. Going into it again today... the only thing I remember is that I enjoyed it the first time. It says this movie is based on true events. How true that is... or to what extent I don't know. But that always does seem to make a story a bit more interesting to me. Until today I didn't realize that the star of this movie, Jennifer Carpenter is the same actress that plays Dexter's sister Debra on Dexter. But as I said I haven't seen this movie since it was first released... and at that point Dexter wasn't on yet. But she did a great job in this movie. I really enjoyed the way this movie was done. I think it is a good mixture of horror and courtroom drama. It makes for an extra interesting storyline. In my opinion... this movie is well worth checking out if you haven't already. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: TV Stars in the Movies on March 7th, 2010) Firefly Marathon, a review by Tom01. Serenity Writer: Joss Whedon (Writer) Director: Joss Whedon Cast: Nathan Fillion (Mal), Gina Torres (Zoe), Alan Tudyk (Wash), Morena Baccarin (Inara), Adam Baldwin (Jayne), Jewel Staite (Kaylee), Sean Maher (Simon), Summer Glau (River), Ron Glass (Shepherd Book), Carlos Jacott (Lawrence Dobson), Mark A. Sheppard (Badger), Andy Umberger (Dortmunder Captain), Philip Sternberg (Inara's Client), Eddie Adams (Bendis), Colin Patrick Lynch (Radio Operator), Bonnie Bartlett (Patience), Domingo Vara (Ensign), Stephen O'Mahoney (Man (Dortmunder)), Jamie McShane (Man), John F. Kearney (Old Man), Gabrielle Wagner (Slave #1) I have borrowed the Blu-ray release of this series from a friend to see, if there is much difference in quality. I have now watched the pilot episode again and am thinking about rewatching the entire series again. The series and its characters made a lasting impression, with me wanting to revisit this series again so soon after. The 14 episodes weren't just enough. It is not often that a series makes me to rewatch it so soon after the first time. In recent history only "Sarah Connor Chronicles" and "Big Bang Theory" made me do it. This pilot episode had much rewatch value. Now knowing the characters a lot better and was fun to see the beginning here. Rating: (From Firefly Marathon on February 24th, 2010) |
