Stars: Brittany Murphy as Dr. Amy Lane Eriq La Salle as Charley "Boomer" Baxter Bruce Davison as Rhodes Justin Hartley as Dan Paul Logan as Boyd Plot: Solid ground gives way, skyscrapers crumble and cities are buried in this thrill-a-minute, action-packed movie event! A deep seismic fault has been triggered in America's heartland. Now, it threatens to slice North America in half. Amidst unpredictable aftershocks, chaos and destruction, seismologist Amy Lane (Brittany Murphy, Deadline, Sin City) and Charley "Boomer" Baxter (Eriq La Salle, TV's ER) must race to predict the fault's direction and warn the millions in its engulfing path. My Thoughts: I have always been a fan of disaster movies... including the low budget ones you see a lot on SyFy Channel. (And I am still not used to the new spelling for SyFy Channel!) Matter of fact this movie is a TV movie that originally aired on the SyFy Channel. This one stars Brittany Murphy. It is one of her last roles before her untimely death. There is a couple other familiar faces in this one. There is Eriq La Salle who played Dr. Peter Benton on ER and Justin Hartley who played Oliver Queen on Smallville. I enjoyed this movie quite a bit... but one thing I had a problem with through-out this movie was Brittany Murphy as a seismologist. Not that her acting was bad or anything like that... but I just felt her size and how young she looked just worked against her in this role. Sure... there is some unbelievable stuff in this movie. But that is pretty much true about any of these type of disaster movie. I really enjoyed both storylines in this movie. Dr. Amy Lane and her team trying to stop the earthquake as well as her husband and child trying to survive the earthquakes as they make their way home. While I wouldn't say it is the best movie of it's kind... I did find it to be well worth watching. (From Christmas in July (1940) on January 19th, 2010) Xena: Warrior Princess Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdSeason 2: Disc 4 13. The Quest (Part 2) Xena's spirit puts into action a plan that may allow her to return to the land of the living and reclaim her body. And Gabrielle is faced with a big decision after meeting up with her old friends - the Amazons. My Thoughts: Very cool... a great conclusion to the previous episode. It was pretty cool to see Iolus from Hercules at the beginning of this episode. It was even better seeing all the amazons in leather bikinis! And yes... it is another episode I never seen before. My Rating: 14. A Necessary Evil In order to stop the evil Velasca from hunting down Gabrielle, Xena must unleash an even more depraved immortal to vanquish her - Callisto. My Thoughts: Wow... another one I never seen before. I am flipping out on this... I didn't think there was many at all that I didn't see. This episode seems to be a part 3 to the last 2 episodes even though it is not listed as such. It was pretty cool to see Callisto again. My Rating: 15. A Day in the Life Xena has 24 hours to prevent a warlord from plundering one village, and the world's biggest giant from destroying another. All in a day's work. My Thoughts: Well... now back to one I have actually seen before. This episode... while pretty silly... was enjoyable. I got a kick out of how Xena and Gabrielle was getting on each others nerves in this one. And I had to laugh when Gabrielle traded Xena's whip for a frying pan. My Rating: 16. For Him the Bell Tolls While engaged in a battle of wills with her son, Cupid, Aphrodite turns Joxer into a dashing hero tasked with stealing a princess's heart away from her betrothed. My Thoughts: Being an episode with Joxer in it.... that right there tells you there will be some silliness to the episode. But they did it well. If there is one thing that bothers me about this episode... that would be the fact that Xena is hardly in the episode at all. Just a quick scene in the beginning and a quick scene in the end. But all the same... I still enjoyed it. My Rating: (From Xena: Warrior Princess Marathon on January 19th, 2010) |
