Mr. Brooks, a review by Dragonfire

Kevin Costner gives one of the best performances of his career" ('Chicago Sun-Times') in this cunningly crafted thriller filled with nail-biting suspense from beginning to end.

Earl Brooks (Costner) has a thriving business, a devoted wife, a loving daughter... and a terrible secret. He's a psychopathic serial killer, and no one has ever suspected him. Unable to control his horrific addiction, Brooks gives in to his sadistic, all-too-real alter ego (William Hurt) and succumbs to his murderous urges. But a pesky witness (Dane Cook) to his latest crime and a stubborn detective (Demi Moore) on the case add shocking new twists to an already terrifying game of cat and mouse.

My Thoughts

I loved this movie when I saw it.  Unfortunately, it was released during the summer and was sort of lost among the highly anticipated movies being released around the same time.  The idea of a killer feeling like he was addicted to it and he tried to suppress the urges was very intriguing to me.  I really liked Kevin Costner in the part - and he's never really been one of my favorites.  He made the character and his internal struggles very believable.  I liked adding in the element of the witness and how all of that developed.  I wasn't as interested in all the extra stuff related to Tracy and her pending divorce that was going.  I'm still not overly fond of Demi Moore.

Overall, this was a very well done thriller that deserves to be seen.

 ;D

I did get a review posted on Epinions if anyone would like to take a look.

Exorcist: Believer, a review by addicted2dvd

Theater Visit
Exorcist: Believer (2023)

Plot:
DO YOU BELIEVE?
Since the death of his wife 12 years ago, Victor Fielding has raised their daughter, Angela on his own. But when Angela and her friend Katherine disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.

My Thoughts:
I been wanting to see this since the first trailer I seen. I was so happy when my friend invited me to go see it with her! While I would say i still prefer the original film, this one comes close! i felt the story was great, cast did a fantastic job and the effects were amazing. I really loved every minute of it! And this is coming from someone who grew up watching the original film. I do think the beginning before the possession of the girls was a bit on the slow side, but once the possession took hold I was on the edge of my seat. And i must say I loved the very last scene of the film!

Nominated for two Golden Globes and winner of the People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy, My Name is Earl is wildly offbeat and hilariously irreverent - the #1 new comedy of the season!

A great first episode to a great series. All the important elements are already here. Even little things like Earl always having is eyes closed in photos.
Towards the end the series grew tired though. So I was not sad that it when it was cancelled. To bad though that it didn't get a proper closure.
