The Notebook, a review by TomTitle: The Notebook Year: 2004 Director: Nick Cassavetes Rating: FSK-6 Length: 124 Min. Video: Widescreen 2.35 Audio: German: Dolby Digital 5.1, English: Dolby Digital 5.1, Russian: Dolby Digital 5.1, English: Dolby Digital TrueHD, Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: Commentary, English, German, Russian, Spanish Stars: Tim Ivey Gena Rowlands Starletta DuPois James Garner Anthony-Michael Q. Thomas Plot: Behind every great love story is a great story. As teenagers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy. The young couple is quickly separated by Allie's upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn't right for her. Several years pass and, when they meet again, their passion is rekindled, forcing Allie to choose between her soulmate and class order. This beautiful tale has a particularly special meaning to an older gentleman (James Garner) who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging companion (Gena Rowlands). Based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks, 'The Notebook' is at once heartwarming and heartbreaking and will capture you in its sweeping and emotional force. Awards:

I had feared that this movie will be boring or too melodramatic, but it there wasn't a single minute where it wasn't engaging. Despite the two hour runtime the time flew by. I can recommend it.Rating: (From December Marathons - DISCUSSION AND REVIEW THREAD on December 20th, 2009) Full Frontal, a review by RichFull Frontal Self indulgent boring film, thats 2 hours of my life I won't get back! Tediously done in docu format, a confusing blend of uninteresting characters merge into nothingness, without context or apparent union, plotless and an insult to the viewers intelligence. What were the likes of Keener, Underwood and Julia Roberts thinking putting their names against this crap? Did a director who handled films like Oceans 11, Traffic and Brokovich really mastermind this home movie? If I videod my fingernails growing, it would be more interesting. **Catherine Keener mini-marathon (From Riches Random Reviews on September 1st, 2009) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: Clarissa brought clarity to murky teenage waters for five seasons on Nick. Now enjoy all 13 episodes from the first season, featuring Clarissa, her annoying little brother Ferguson, health-nut mom Janet, architect dad Marshall, and welcome next-door neighbor, Sam. Clarissa Explains It All 1.01 Clarissa's Revenge Director: Kenneth Frankel Cast: Melissa Joan Hart (Clarissa Marie Darling), Jason Zimbler (Ferguson Darling), Elizabeth Hess (Janet Darling), Joe O'Connor (Marshall Darling), Sean O'Neal (Sam Anders) A teen series which surprisingly is still fun to watch. It stars Melissa Joan Hart before she went on to play Sabrine the Teenage Witch. Mostly because of her constantly breaking the fourth wall, I enjoy watching it. The pilot introduces the characters perfectly. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on March 31st, 2011) |
