Moonraker, a review by Dragonfire

I'm trying to get caught back up here.

James Bond blasts into orbit in this pulse-pounding adventure that takes him from Venice to Rio de Janeiro and to outer space! Roger Moore stars for the fourth time as Agent 007 and joins forces with NASA scientist Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles) to prevent a power-mad industrialist (Michael Lonsdale) from destroying all human life on Earth.

My Thoughts

I first saw this movie years ago and I think it was actually one of the first Bond movies I did see.  That's probably why I like it more than other people.  The plot didn't bother me that much since space exploration had been going on for a while when the movie came out and the space shuttle was really being designed at that point.  It does seem like it was a blatant attempt to make the movie more relevant.  The plot is interesting and not any more far fetched than many of the other Bond movies for the most part.  Things went too far once the shuttles were in space and there was a laser battle.  The effects for that didn't look that great either.  I did like that Jaws was back.  It did get ridiculous how he kept surviving so many things that should have killed him or at the least really hurt him.  James was back to romancing several women, including Dr. Holly Goodhead who wasn't that believable as a scientist or NASA trained astronaut.  There wasn't anything special about any of the women in this movie.

Overall, I like this movie, though I know it has some issues.  I still need to watch all the extras on my DVD, though I have started working on a review to post on Epinions eventually.

Oasis of the Zombies, a review by Jimmy

Title : Oasis of the Zombies (1981)

Overview
During World War II, a platoon of German soldiers is transporting a large shipment of gold across the African desert when they're attacked by Allied forces who force them to hide the treasure in a remote desert oasis. Fifty years later, the son of the only surviving Allied attacker decides to lead an expedition to track down the hidden gold. Facing numerous perils along the way, the adventurers find the hidden oasis only to discover it is guarded by horrifying Nazi zombies.

My Impression
Not a good day of movie watching for me today, first the God awfull pieces of shit that is "War of the Robots" and now this one. The first hint that this movie will be boring is the original title : , that means that it's a French horror movie and except for Jean Rollin no French is able to make an horror movie. The second hint is the director name A.M. Frank that are one of the hundred of alias of Jesus Franco, he had made almost 200 movies and most of them are bad. The last hint was at the start of the movie, I've watched this one 15 years ago in its original language and didn't finish it because it was boring... So finally since we can escape our karma I've watch it today without knowing that it was this one.

It was longer than the real running time, I've fallen asleep 4 times watching it... Badly dub, crappy print quality, annoying music, completly illogic (one of the zombie is the dad of the teenager but he didn't died there, the Sheik doesn't age at all in 40 years,...), no characters development, bad script, an end that doesn't make sense, ...

Only good thing in it, the zombie makeup is good but they used the same footage again and again and again...

Really don't watch this, unless you need to sleep and you're unable to.

Tom's Random Star Trek Reviews, a review by Tom

DS9 4.20 Shattered Mirror
Writer: Ira Steven Behr (Writer), Hans Beimler (Writer)
Director: James L. Conway
Cast: Avery Brooks (Captain Sisko), Rene Auberjonois (Odo), Michael Dorn (Lt. Commander Worf), Terry Farrell (Lt. Commander Dax), Cirroc Lofton (Jake Sisko), Colm Meaney (Chief O'Brien), Armin Shimerman (Quark), Alexander Siddig (Doctor Bashir), Nana Visitor (Major Kira), Felecia M. Bell (Jennifer), Aron Eisenberg (Nog), Carlos Carrasco (Klingon Officer), Andrew Robinson (Garak), James Black (Helmsman), Dennis Madalone (Guard)

In this episode, Jake meets the mirror Jennifer Sisko (his mother). Though this is a nice idea and has a good payoff, they focused too much on this storyline for my taste. Still the episode was fun to watch. Though it is strange, how the rebels could build a perfect replica of the Defiant in such a short time. It is also sad to see mirror-Garak degraded to being the labdog of mirror-Worf.
