Queen of the Damned, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Stuart Townsend as Lestat Marguerite Moreau as Jesse Aaliyah as Akasha Vincent Perez as Marius Paul McGann as David Talbot Lena Olin as Maharet Plot: It's her time. Her place. The wickedly regal Mother of All Vampires is ready again to rule! Aaliyah plays the title role in this stylish shocker based on Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles. Stuart Townsend portrays Lestat, the undead antihero previously seen in the movie version of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire. This time, Lestat finds acceptance in a tattooed and pierced world. He's a rock star. And his intoxicating Goth-riffed sound rekindles the desires of all-powerful Akasha. Extras:
My Thoughts: As much as I love vampire movies... this one is difficult for me to watch. This was originally a blind buy for me years ago... as it is a vampire movie I had to see it. And I haven't seen it since so I forgot how much I disliked this movie the first time around. The first problem for me was of all the music in this movie. But setting the music aside... it just isn't that great a story. There was some cool scenes with some decent effects. But that seems to be the most I can give this movie. I loved the film Interview with a Vampire... but this follow-up... sorry just couldn't get into it. I so wish I remembered my thoughts on this film before getting the upgrade to blu-ray. But that is ok... this film gets a star just for being a vampire movie alone. My Rating: (From The Alphabet Marathon: Blu-ray Edition on July 29th, 2014) Rocky II, a review by TomTitle: Rocky II Year: 1979 Director: Sylvester Stallone Rating: PG Length: 114 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, English: DTS 5.1 Subtitles: English, Hindi Stars: Sylvester Stallone Talia Shire Burt Young Carl Weathers Burgess Meredith Plot: It's the rematch of the century as Rocky Balboa takes on Apollo Creed in this powerful follow-up to one of the most acclaimed movies in film history. After club fighter Rocky Balboa (Stallone) goes the distance with the world heavyweight champion, boxing fans clamour for a rematch. But Rocky, having sustained massive injuries in the bout, announces his retirement. Though he tries to make a new life for himself, Rocky realizes that he can't escape his true calling. The ring beckons once more, and the "Italian Stallion" must prepare for the fight of his life. Extras: Scene Access My Thoughts: I liked this sequel about the same as the first Rocky, if not slightly more. I have not seen many boxing matches, but the ones I have seen, the fighters always hide their faces behind their gloved fists. But in the Rocky movies, they never have their hands in such a defense position and are constantly pummelling each other's faces. Did I just watch the wrong real-world fights or is it heavy-weight class thing?Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on March 7th, 2009) Tom's Random Star Trek Reviews, a review by TomVOY 7.18 Q2 Writer: Robert Doherty (Screenwriter), Kenneth Biller (Original Material By) Director: LeVar Burton Cast: Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway), Robert Beltran (Chakotay), Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna Torres), Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Paris), Ethan Phillips (Neelix), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Tim Russ (Tuvok), Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim), Keegan DeLancie (Q2), Manu Intiraymi (Icheb), Michael Kagan (Alien Commander), Lorna Raver (Q-Judge), John DeLancie (Q), Anthony Holiday (Nausicaan), Scott Davidson (Bolian), Majel Barrett (Computer Voice (voice)) I finally came around finishing off my Q marathon. What a boring last ever Q episode. Instead of having a big Q story, we have a stupid "Q's son has to learn a lesson" episode, which brings nothing we haven't seen a hundred times before to the table. Best part was when Q junior removed Neelix's mouth and voice Rating: (From Tom's Random Star Trek Reviews on February 20th, 2010) |
