What a day already! It is a long story... but went for my morning walk and due to a personal emergency I almost get arrested for trespassing!  :P

What kind of "Personal Emergency" gets one arrested for trespassing?

If it has something to do with bladder-pressure and a tree on someone else's property, I don't want to know.  :P

A tree wouldn't have helped!... This is kinda embarrassing... but yes in a way... desperately so!

If anyone wants to read the long embarrassing story... here it is. Michael, you may not want to! :P
Out for a walk and I get about 15min away from the house and find I really need to go all the sudden... and what I had to do I couldn't just go hide and whip it out to take care of myself.   :-[

Anyway by the time I make it as far as the post office I am like I need to find some place fast... or I am going to mess myself!

Stopped in post office... no help. No public rest room. Tried a close by store... they wouldn't let me use theirs... Then I am like... a block from the library!  Please let me make it! Get there... and wouldn't you know it...not open yet! (open at 10!)

Getting desperate and scared... I know about 2 blocks away is the park... there is a building there that has rest rooms... So I get there as fast as I can... while there is people at the park (bike riding and such).... the building with the rest rooms is locked tight! Damn!

There is no way I will make it home... and no way I would make t to the next known rest room (McDonalds!... close to the food store...about another 20min walk)... but try to get there as fast as I can since it is shorter then home),,,Looking desperately for a ride or another choice.

I get walking down the road and see the building where I pay the water bill... it used to be an old school building and I used the rest room in there before... I wasn't going to make walking to the front door.. but there is a side door near the bathroom... so I hit that... go inside and finally get to the rest room. (unfortunately a little too late as there was some mess in my shorts  :-[ ) So I go... get cleaned up real good... take my shorts off... and go to the sink using a bottle of hand soap to clean my shorts as good as I can... and leave with wet shorts n hand. But feel better anyway.

When leaving I hear "Excuse me sir" from behind... and walking up to me is a police officer. Asking me what I was doing coming out that building. I told the cop the whole embarrassing story... backed up by the wet shorts in my hand... saying how embarrassed I am. He told me not to be but asked how I got in in the first place. I told him just walked in. I pay my water bill there all the time and knew they had rest rooms. He was like yeah... but today is Saturday and the building is closed. That I was literally trespassing on government property. I told him that the door was just open and that I had no idea that the building was closed today.

Damn if he still didn't take my info and call it in. Thankfully after hearing back (finding out I had no criminal record) he said that while he could arrest me... what with the circumstances and the fact that the door was never locked... that I am just free to go.
Oh what a morning!

What a shitty thing to happen.  :tease:

Well.  Unfortunately that sort of ....emergency can happen.  At least the cop didn't arrest you.  It's not like it is your fault that the door wasn't locked.

Perhaps, in the future, wait to take your walk until after places that have bathrooms are open.  Just in case.

addicted2dvd

yeah... tell me about it. Unfortunately I left the house earlier then I thought I did.

Yeah, just because it's not locked doesn't mean you can enter. And in Germany we say, that not knowing you ate doing something wrong does not mean you can't get punished for it ("Unwissenheit schützt nicht for Strafe", or so).

So, yes, thanks this police officer saw the truth of the statements and eventually looked the other way.

Pete, it'll be funny by the time you get to tell Brit! :P

Not as bad as when I first started this thread... but another bad morning. I went for a walk to the library... about a 20 min walk from home. Wanted to switch out some movies. So go there.. return a few and pick out a few. Just barely get out the door and what happens? Starts raining! I was soaked to the bone before I got home!  :( Watch with my luck...  I will be getting sick.

How can it be trespassing when a public building has its doors open? How should an assuming citizen know that it's not technically open?

I guess by going to the front door instead of the side door? I dunno. :P

If they don't want people to go in the door, they should lock it.

It was rainy here today too...one person I work with said there were snow flurries at her house this morning.  I had to stop at Walmart on the way home.  When I was going back out to the car, there were flurries.. Least it looked like it to me.  I am so not ready for snow.

Come over here then, we are currently having temperatures about 20° C ( ~ 68° F).
The "best" about it, this is achieved by a warm air stream from the Sahara, so other than in a normal autumn it doesn't cool down much at night.
