I wanted to take a moment to say congratulations to my smart, talented and all-around wonderful daughter. Today is her final day of High School. She gets out early... it is only a half a day. So I expect her home here in a couple hours. She is now a High School graduate. The graduation ceremony is early next month. Then in a few months she will be off to her college of choice. Hollins University in Roanoke Virginia.

I am more proud then I have ever been in my entire life. Even though I will miss her more then words can say and I will worry about her the entire time she is gone... I am also extremely excited for her about the journey she is about to take.

My goal now is to spend as much time as possible with her until she leaves. Brittany, don't be surprised if you get sick of your old dad by the time you leave us!  :P

I'll bet your looking forward to escaping your father's clutches going away to college.

Thanks for the congrats! I'm holding off on celebration until after the ceremony, though....I still have 3 more events with those people I called classmates!  :yucky: A picnic, senior trip, and then graduation. I won't feel rid of them until this is all over.

Happy to spend time with dad, though.  ;)

Congrats, Brittany!  I hope you enjoy college!

Congratulations

Those people you call classmates?  Does that mean they aren't your best friends for life?  :lol   I understand the feeling.  I haven't seen the majority of the ones I went to school with since graduation and I'm fine with that.

Congrats, Brittany!  :yahoo:

Trust me, I'll be happy never to see some of those people again

I'm studying Creative Writing, though it will only be my concentration in English until I can start working on my Master's. It shouldn't take too many years, though. Most students at Hollins graduate in 2-3 years (I'm guessing for a bachelor's) and I've already earned credits over the last couple years through a few AP tests: Literature, Language, and Psychology. Taking that into consideration, I should be exempt from quite a few courses. And if I pass this online math entrance test during the summer, then that will be another out of the way.

Something else worth mentioning is that sometime after my freshman year I'm considering studying abroad in Japan, seeing as how much I am just taken aback by that culture or at least all of the anime and manga. But then again that would require an extra class to learn the basics of Japanese, paperwork to receive a passport, plane ticket, and temporary residence...I'll see when the time comes.  ;D

Good luck with all that it sounds awesome! :)

its cliche but it really is the best time of your life!

I understand that feeling perfectly.

Everyone can relate to that.

I didn't fit during high school. That's not to say no one liked me or was my friend, but there were so many cliques and I didn't hang with any of them. When my 10-year high school reunion came around, the only reason I made the four-hour trip was to hopefully see 4 or 5 people, but I also thought to myself that most of us had been separated for several years, and we've grown; maybe things will feel very different.

Well, we all show up at the school, and right away people began to gather into their same groups, and there I was alone in the corner (so to speak) yet again.

College was a wonderful place... a clean slate meeting people who didn't associate me with my brother (smart, athletic, etc) and therefore no preconceptions on the person I should be. I hope that you will be able to make many new friends!
