Fraggle Rock had been in development for a few years at The Weinstein Company but nothing ever happened. Anyway, their rights ended and the highest bidder was New Regency who make the Chipmunks movies. Any previous development has been scrapped and New Regency aren't sure if this will be CGI or live action with puppets:

I guess we'll see more info on the live action/CGI decision once they see how The Muppets performs at the box office for Disney...

Fraggle Rock wouldn't be Fraggle Rock without puppets.

I agree 100%. Same with the Muppets (though I do remember watching a Baby Muppets cartoon on VHS when I was a youngster). Laugh

I use to watch the Muppet Babies cartoon.  Somehow that was a little different for me...I guess since it was younger versions of the characters.  There was a Fraggle Rock cartoon too...I think I saw a little of it..I have the DVD..I need to watch it.
Animation and CGI is fine with some things...but the Muppets and the Fraggles - and Seasme Street characters - are puppets and should be left alone.  Turning them into CGI would.....loose the heart of the characters I think.
