Belated best wishes - sorry it's late  :redcard:

My excuse - getting hammered at Burn's night celebration, which I still have the thumping headache and bloodshot eyes to prove

Hope you had a great day anyway

Touti

At my age I can no longer have real (  :drunk:  ) birthday parties but I enjoyed my evening watching a movie with a good bottle of wine.

I watched Beowulf & Grendel.  It's not a bad movie, I expected much more violence which I'm not necessarily a big fan of unless it serves the story.  That made the movie more interesting, especially for an under-cultured Québécois who had never heard of the poem and didn't know that the story is in fact the fact that there's no fight between them :bag:

Happy Birthday you old git!  :tease:

My excuse for being late? Broken windows... PC Windows that is! >:( I've been a computer technician for 15 years and I have never had such a stupid problem like this. I brought the PC out of stand-by into the welcome screen with no apps running in the background. The screen was corrupted and was at 640x480, with the added novelty of having to scroll to see the edges. Often happens and it needs restarting to put right. I was annoyed that it did it and felt that the PC had developed a personal vendetta against its owner. As such I punished it and didn't grant it time to shut down; I just powered it off. Take that, Evil PC! Yeah! :voodoo:

Result: Corrupted system partition. :bag: :slaphead:

I don't get it. The disk wasn't being accessed. It was at the welcome screen. I've lost count of the PCs dropped by a power cut and they come back on fine, except when they're in the middle of installing something, or other big disk operations. Damn it. Luckily my brilliant backup methods meant I just lost the basic Windows/Apps install, so it's no biggie.

So listen up, kids. ALWAYS shut down. Always. And backup. Go on. Do it now.

And I wish to add my belated best wishes. No real excuse, computer didn't crash, just wasn't online. The wife and I decided to go uot for dinner and a movie. We saw "The Bucket List". A very entertaining movie, I have always likes both Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. We had a very enjoyable evening as I hope you did with your movie and wine. Once again, best wishes.

Thanks again to all of you.  I did have an enjoyable evening, as I said I liked the movie.  This afternoon I watched "V for Vendetta" which I found really good, I'd give a 8.5/10.  Now I have to decide what I'm gonna watch tonight before going to bed.
