Hi everyone,

I'm Marc from Leicestershire in the UK. I have been collecting movies since I was 12 years old. Started with VHS, moved onto DVD and now mainly collect LaserDiscs, but still collect good quality DVD releases too.

I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

I also owned and loved LaserDiscs in the past. But isn't it a small step back from DVD? What is it you prefer?

I don't think it's a step back, it's just different. Both formats have positive and negative points. It's like CDs and vinyl records. If a movie is available on LD I prefer to buy that over DVD, unless the DVD has particularly good extra features, but even then, if it's a good movie I'd buy the LD too  ;D The reason's I prefer LaserDiscs are:  They are very tactile, have great sleeve art, have a great analogue film-like picture, the sound is unrivaled even by some blu-ray releases, they have an intrinsic value as they were never de-valued by pirating and were ( in the west at least ) an elite format for serious movie fans. And I couldn't afford them the first time round but can pick them up very cheap nowadays.
