Anybody else catch the premier to this show last night (or have it recorded).

It premiered on FOX last night. 2nd episode tonight.

If you missed it you can catch it online at http://www.fox.com/terminator/

Also I believe it is airing in the UK tonight or tomorrow. Not sure what channel or network.

I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Tom

I saw the pilot when it was leaked to the internet a few month ago. It looked very promising and I cannot wait for a DVD release of the series  :)

Same here! And I've seen pictures of Summer Glau (River on Firefly/Serenity) as the new Terminator, and she looks mighty fine!

It's just screened in the UK and I was pretty impressed.

A promising start and fantastic effects had me hooked, then I started to get concerned; the plot was the same as Terminator 2: Nasty Terminator; Run; Good Terminator; Run; Visit Dyson home using good terminator to convince; Sarah gets wounded in shoulder; Good Terminator sows it up. It's all the damn same! Then it redeemed itself with a really cool final sequence that added something tangible and fresh to the series that hasn't happened since the comics, and certainly not in the third movie.

Also the "On next week" trailer at the end...
I love Cameron's line to Sarah, now they're in 2007, telling her she died two years ago of cancer, therefore putting right the crime of T3's silly plot.
OK... I just watched the pilot... and even though I have set up a post for a complete DVD Review for this set... I wanted to give my initial thoughts.

First of all let me say I was a bit worried going into this series because even though I tried not to... my expectations for this series was a bit high going into it. Luckily not only did the pilot episode meet my expectations... it passed them!

I really liked the fact that Summer Glau is in this series... she played my favorite character on Firefly!

I was wondering how this series would be effects wise... After all there is no way the series would have a budget like the movies did. But I must admit... the effects are pretty cool! I am impressed. Though I was hoping that we would see some of the Terminators made of the liquid metal. That may be asking too much... but who knows maybe in one of the upcoming episodes.

OK... can't waste anymore of my evening... I must go watch the next episode!

Agree Pete!
I was surprised that she professed her love for John and said she knew he loved her too. Could make for an interesting story arc - or it could be crap if the writers screw it up.  :hysterical:

I also found it great that she did have the internal command to TERMINATE but somehow overwrote this command and handed him back the gun. Could this be the beginning of her trying to become more human? Kinda like Data in STTNG? If nothing else they can certainly play on the internal conflict she will no doubt have whether to follow her basic programming and terminate John or to continue to ignore that programing.
Good episode and a good start to the season.

So true...
At this point I don't know how I feel about her professing her love for John. As you said... could turn to crap very easily. Going by the upcoming previews she definitely will have trouble suppressing her basic programming. Everything was better then O was expecting (the series on a whole). And I loved seeing that they did bring in a liquid metal terminator. I don't know about you... but from the first second I saw that character (woman buying the computer) I had a strong feeling she was a terminator... just wasn't expecting the liquid metal version.
Anyway... I can hardly wait till next week
But they missed such a great chance for the perfect line with her (the terminator woman). When the guy was in the bathroom and said she really pissed him off, then she morphed from the urinal into a person the obvious line was, as she is morphing to say "it's better to be pissed of than to be pissed on". C'mon... how funny would that have been!
Pete's right Tom - you need to wait!

We could do a season-1-watch-together after The Big Bang Theory. I recently got T:SCC and it contains only three discs, a reasonable amount IMHO.
