In related news: Debra Granik (Winter's Bone) apparently plans to go to the root(?) of the recent girl hero trend by making a Pippi Longstocking movie.

For me there will always be only one Pippi Longstocking, and that is the one I saw on TV when I was a kid...

I think I read a book or story with Pippi Longstocking when I was younger.  I don't remember if I saw a movie or not though.
