This should inspire all those who love to draw fantasy artwork. This painting of Conan the Destroyer, done in 1971, just sold for $1.5 million dollars.

Ah, Frank Frazetta. Absolute Master. Thanks, Kathy, it's so good to see this sort of art fetching that kind of cash. I have books full of this sort of stuff. Ever since reading Dragonlance for the first time, I couldn't get enough...

Problem is, these things always jump in value... once the artist is dead. So the artist never really profits from them, almost always the succession, or even worse, the guy who bought it for a bottle of wine and a dinner... I always find it sad that it seems an artist has to die to be recognized..

For anyone who remembers that old art thread I started ages ago you will see that this is definatley up my alley. I'm thinking of starting a new one some time.

Sophie, you were one of the people I thought of when I saw this.

I hope it inspires you onto great things...and that you see the reward while you are still alive!

Thanks Kathy. I have unfortunatley been lazy for most of this entire year and hardly drawn at all. I really need to get back into it. Maybe starting a new thread here will give me the emphasis I need to get moving!
