Hey, here is one to tease you with that I just bought! The House of the Devil. I hadn't heard of it before I bought the Blu-Ray from Play and I still haven't watched it yet, but it sounds very good.

I watched the trailer and kept thinking, "why haven't I heard of this 80s movie?".  Stars But actually, the director felt the best slashers were from that period of the 70s/80s (he's right of course) and decided to make one exactly like that. So it's an authentic 80s look about everything!

By the way the director is Ti West, responsible for very little of note except Cabin Fever 2. That's the one thing that concerns me, because the first one was bad enough! Trailer though...

Ti West does have some reputation though from The Roost. Not heard of it before either, but I'll look it up if this is good. I'll tell you next week or so, because I ain't on no damn Horror famine!  Devil Tease

Haven't watch The Roost for a while, but I remember I've appreciated it since it feels like a seventies horror movies and not a 2005 one.

Looks like West definitely knows where his heart lies.

Many people critics The Roost because of its lack of gore, but blood and over the top violence aren't what make an horror movie good (if it was the case I would like Saw (but the first one isn't too bad), Hostel and all the other look-a-like). This is the ambiance of an horror film that make it "scary", blood is just special effects... Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer isn't full of gore (we don't even see most of the murder but only the aftermath) and this is certainly one of the scarier movie I've seen because of the "it could, will and it happens everyday in reality" vibe I got from it.

Too bad that a lot of young people don't know any better Sad

I agree... though I do like the gore. To me gore is just the icing on the cake.

I bought this too! Read a few good review of it and thought "what the hell". There is always room for more horror in my collection.

I was aware that it is made to match old style horror, but I assumed it would be like Amityville or other "possessed house" films (based on the title), not a slasher. Will have to watch it soon; can't watch it alone though, my partner will want to see it as well.

I just wanted to once again publicly thank all the people that were so kind to send me a box of DVDs!

You don't know how much easier you made it for me to try to stay away from horror right now. Giving me lots of new stuff to watch and enjoy... helping me to take my mind off of watching horror! Thank you all so much! Believe me... it is very much appreciated!
