I thought it was an improvement on the original with some great effects, some well added dark humour at the right moments and I think Olyphant and Radha Mitchell played off each other very well. The whole scene on the baseball diamond was one of the better scenes of recent horror movies IMO. In fact, I would go as far as to say it's in my top 3 horror remakes with The Thing and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I've only seen it once so far as a rental, waiting for a nice cheap price to buy.

The Crazies is soulless. It has interesting moments, but really no way can I give it any more credit than that. But... hold on... oh dear. You just said The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was in your top 3 remakes. Please, for the love of all that is good in this world, tell me you don't think it's better?

I'm surprised every time I hear someone has purchased Jonah Hex.  I am a big fan of westerns myself but I've heard this movie is so durn awful that even I won't buy it.  But I've heard a number have bought it and I belong to an e-mail list of western lovers where a number of people even like it.  Of course, they are just normal people...they don't have the keen insignt on film appreciation that we have.

Better made, no. More enjoyable, yes. Love the original and have a hell of a lot respect for it but my god is has aged horribly and has not stood the test of time well at all. The remake is just more of enjoyable watch and if someone told me I had to watch one or the other, I'd pick the remake. Then again, I did enjoy The Next Generation

Good grief, I don't find the original dated because it's so intense. The remake is just so depressing. You know, the weird thing is, I didn't quite get the proper version and then saw the new one and found it so diabolical and insulting I realised the genius of Tobe Hooper's film. Horror should be challenging and twisted and the worst thing about the remakes is how they are drained of originality to pander to a generic mainstream audience.

I'm not completely against remakes.  I really like the new Dawn of the Dead because Zack Snyder tried to give it an edge. And Let Me In would be seriously awesome if it wasn't right behind the original.

As for "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre",nothing beats the original,in my opinion,its actualy one of my favorite films ever!!

More enjoyable, yes.

The only things enjoyable in the remake is what Jessica Biel wear and if you tell me the contrary I will have to call you a liar. For one time I can comment since I own the original TCM (2 times), the sequel (2 times), the third part, the fourth part (the canadian uncut release), the remake and the remake sequel

I already have The Specialist and The Young Graduates. Road to Nashville sound like something I won't like at all : a musical western full of country singer acting with the wooden and highly noncharismatic Marty Robbins as the star.
