AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! :weirdo:

That's it. The world has gone nuts!

Not to pre-empt your comments, but I've always been especially fond of the story being led by middle-aged actors. A very refreshing change.

I guess Jimmy is going to disavow himself of me now.

Alien Redrum

I loved Jackie Brown and I know exactly why. But I'll wait until you say why first. :)

No, Jackie Brown isn't too bad. I appreciated it when I've watched it at its released, but not enough to add it to my collection.

I've been telling you for years that this is Tarantino's best. Very underrated.

You should use this as an excuse to hit up some blaxploitation goodness with Grier though. Foxy Brown, Coffy, Black Mama White Mama, etc etc etc

I'm only a recent opponent to Antares' views on QT! Nice to know there's a little backup now. :P

Have to say though -and here is where Jimmy shouts at me again :bag:- I don't like the two Pam Grier films I've seen: Foxy Brown and Coffy. Jackie Brown is a much better film than both of them.

I know it's perverse because without them, half of Tarantino's CV would disappear, including Jackie Brown, but I prefer a slick production with a director (whoever he/she is) with an eye for visual... oomph. If you know what I mean.

Jackie Brown also respects Grier far more. I've said before I like the way she's middle aged and the lead, but for her in particular, it's a much more rewarding role. Coffy may have been iconic, but she was there to get her boobs out as fast as possible. That instantly devalues the performance.

Jackie Brown and Death Proof are now the only two Tarantino films that I haven't seen. I'm not too fussed about not having seen his Grindhouse contribution but I am really looking foward to Jackie Brown, I have been wanting to see it for ages. This thread has reminded me of it so I should get a move on.

I know you have, but I was never in a position to watch it. There was no way in Hell I was ever going to blind buy it, knowing my disdain for the director. But if you've read this thread from the beginning, you now know why I was able to procure it.

If my library system has them, then they'll go on my queue waiting list.

Don't get your hopes up too high, IIRC, Sam likes a few of his films, but he is definitely not a fan of all of them.

And this doesn't change my mind to the fact that aside from this one really good film, the rest of his ouevre is plagiarized, puerile pablum.  :tease:

Think of it this way...for me to recommend it, knowing how I feel about Tarantino, it has to be very good.

Going to have a little foreign film marathon this weekend, just got Jeunet's Delicatessen, Wajda's A Generation and Polanski's Repulsion from the library.
