Well done for volunteering, Ya_shin! I'd pick two films, but I am actually rubbish at doing so in the six degrees game. I always pick two end points I think will be just right and they're either impossible or impossibly easy...  :tomato:
It could easily become "impossible" if one were to pick an Asian movie versus an American film

Well, maybe I'll have Movie Pick make the start and end point picks on the weekend, unless someone comes up with a suggestion...

Random movie pick marathon
Letter linking marathon (new title begins with last letter of previous title)
Star linking marathon (start and finish on same star)

I have uploaded some SQL queries for the CCViewer:
  • "Director begins with"
  • "Director ends with"
  • "Star begins with": Only uses first 3 entries in cast list
  • "Star ends with": Only uses first 3 entries in cast list
  • "Title ends with"
  • "Title begins/ends with"

FYI:
The inbuilt "Select Random Title" also takes episodes into account. If the picked random title has episodes assigned, one of the assigned episodes is randomly selected.

Nice one and thanks Tom, I'd better get the latest CCViewer then  :-[

I saw the brilliant idea to do a "80 days around the world marathon", but it seems to "require" watching 80 films :o My time until March 20 will not alow me to do that (almost-three-week trip to Germany in between).

So, for those with similar trouble, we need to decide on our January idea!

I'm still in for a January marathon  :ok:

From the ideas below my vote would be the letter linking marathon

Is anyone else in for a January marathon?

Random movie pick marathon
Six degrees of profiler marathon
Based on fact/true stories marathon
Letter linking marathon (new title begins with last letter of previous title)
Star linking marathon (start and finish on same star)
Triathlon marathon

Any one of those three and I will probably be in.

I'm exhausted to looking at the suggestions, including my own! I must be burnt out...  :( I think I'll have an "unwatched" marathon...  :-[

Same here... (Seems we're narrowing it down)

Wasn't the Six Degrees of Profiler marathon similar to the Star Linking?

Did I miss the description of a Triathlon...?

EDIT: Found the description of the Triathlon. Not a bad idea either, but as we want as many people as possible to join and Tom didn't list it, I guess it's out for now...

For me the main reason for participating in marathons is, to make the choosing of a movie to watch easier. That means, marathons which give me a criteria to quickly filter my collection for is good. But when I have to browse again my whole collection just to find a movie which may fit the criteria, I have to spend even more time choosing a title to watch than before.
For example the 80 DVDs marathon. I searched for about a half an hour for movies which I may watch for it and came only up with 12 movies so far. For now it looks like I will not participate in it.

Well, seems like we're either all too groggy from the festivities, or we just don't feel like doing a full fledged marathon. So, I was doing some thinking, and I think I know what marathon I'll do:

The No-Goal, No-Theme, unwatched Marathon

Just pick at random in your list whatever you want to watch as you go! How about that for January?

This is already what I do. Easy to make and I can see some movie that I have not watch from a long time. Not the most original marathon, but at least everybody can do it.

A Previously-Unwatched Marathon would be quite easy for me to do.  :bag:

That could be it... No one seemed in the mood to decide (except richierich, who is now on a trip around the world on 80 days )

Sounds good to me. Like for James, my unwatched pile has lots of stuff to provide me from. How about the goal will be to finish 26 (in reference to the alphabet marathons and 26 being a manageable number)?

Unwatched, as in "never seen" or just unwatched DVDs?

I would choose "never seen".

Since this is the beginning of the year, I'll do a "beginning" marathon with all my TV shows.
