He does get the blame for North by Northwest.  That's the only Blu I remember him going on about.

Once you watched it and "saw the light" you'll thank me, not blame me :P

Same will be with Jon and The Dark Knight...

Just you wait.

Dragonfire

But see...if I blame you guys, I feel less bad about double dipping.

I've already looked through the book with North by Northwest a bit...really interesting stuff in it.

Achim

I'll happily take the blame any day of the week

I have a hard time to hold back on upgrades myself...

Dragonfire

Three more double dips.

Cars

Ratatouille

WALL-E

Achim

I thought the DVD of Ratatouille already looked incredibly good. However, I also wanted to complete my Pixar Blu-ray collection...

So, Pxar/Disney, how about those Incredibles and Nemo....?

Dragonfire

I want Finding Nemo and Incredibles on Blu-ray too..and I already have the 2 Disc DVDs.
The Toy Story movies just came out on Blu earlier this year right?  And Monster's Inc was last year I think.  So hopefully later this year.

And of course I'll get Toy Story 3 on Blu once it is out.

Nice purchase! I have these as well and the quality, both audio and video is superb. I think so far, every Pixar and every Ghibli (well, there's only one out for the time being but one more on the way) have proven worth to upgrade to Blu.

Critter

I have decided to not buy the Toy Story films on blu-ray until I can buy all three of them in a blu-ray box set. After that they better not make a fourth!  :voodoo:

Dragonfire

I watched North by Northwest on Blu last night.

Holy shit it looks amazing.  I thought I was somewhat prepared since I've had my Blu-ray player for a while and have seen several on Blu now.  But I am still blown away by this one.  This is a must own Blu-ray.

I said holy shit out loud more than once and I was just staring in awe at ..well...everything.  It is so gorgeous.   :o :o

A full review is coming for the movie in which I will ramble on about how wonderful it looks again I'm sure.  But I just had the need to share quickly..and get all the holy shits out of my system. ;)

Hell yeah. It literally looks brand new in some scenes. When the car is pulling into James Mason's drive, I thought... if someone made this film right now, with period detail, it wouldn't look this good.

Dragonfire

I know what you mean.  Everything looks so good..  It's amazing.

There are one or two shots that don't look as good - probably the best they could get them with the restoration, but just about everything is stunning.  The level of detail visible is amazing..and I think it shows how much work went into the movie originally.  If all those details hadn't been there originally, we wouldn't be able to drool over they now.

I still haven't upgraded any DVD to Blu-ray, but now I am tempted:

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
Currently I have this 3.5h movie on one DVD, which suffers from compression artifacts because of the length.

I'm thinking about this upgrade too! But I should warn you: once you are starting to upgrade dvd's to blu-ray you'll never know when to stop!

It's been some time since I saw NBNW on DVD, but it seemed to me that the matte lines were fairly obvious in the Mount Rushmore sequence. I was afraid that they might be even more obvious on the blu-ray edition, but when I watched it I thought that they were actually less visible. Is my memory of the DVD playing me tricks, or did anyone else make the same observation?

Honestly, I think it is simply the case that they have done an absolutely stunning job throughout the transfer of that film. Maybe your DVD was more obvious, but the difference in quality is staggering overall.
