Question for you Tom...

I know you said...
Quote
If you want to have to have episode specific data in the list, you have to the episodes assigned to a profile. A bunch of TV data is available via File->Update->TV Data...
If you want TV data added there, you can send the Profiler cast and crew as XML to me and I can convert it to be episode specific. Easiest for me is it, if it's the cast and crew of a complete season at once (i.e. what you would put in the parent season box profile).

But sending it to you would be a bit difficult as there is many series I have that is not listed... and I don't keep cast and crew lists in parent profiles... don't do crew at all for that matter. I have that if someone else does it. :P Anyway... how would I assign episodes myself? I got to the screen you show on your site...

But I found no way to type the info in for new... what do I need for it or do differently?
Pete

If you want to add episodes yourself, you can do it, if you switch to TV mode (View->TV Shows). There you can add new series, seasons and episodes.

New Version: v2.7

Important (please read):
1) From now on the online data (retrieved via File->Update) is in a compressed format, which reduzes the download size enormously. But this means you have to update to this version to be able to use the online data from now on.
2) For better Vista/Win7 compability I have moved the settings and skins to MyDocuments folder. If you have created your own skins, you will have to move them yourself to the new folder (i.e. from <InstallationFolder>\Skins to <MyDocuments>\CCViewer\Skins

Changelist:
New: CustomTitle field. Possibility to enter a custom title for each profile. E.g. can be used to enter the English title for an Asian movie of your German DVD profile. Includes new skin tag CUSTOM_TITLE and option View->Use custom title
New: New setting for including profiles of certain collection types in Owned tab
New: Compressed data exchange files (Export/Import/Update functions). Update to this version is necessary for updating data via the online pool (File->Update)
New: View->Go to Profile...
New: Alias XML Export format
New: Translation file as XML
New: Save window sizes of child forms
New: Enhanced Debug Logging
New: SetAutoAlias enhanced for honorifics
New: Extended skins, CCV_Features in CCV_HeaderVars
New: Remove unneeded birth years function now also available via "Tools" menu
New: Revived Database export/import with improved performance
New: Improved performance of Viewer and Profiler 3 export
New: Update localities import map
Change: SetAutoAlias function updated to current Invelos common name filter
Change: Ask before switching language after downloading a new language file
Change: Use title if original title is empty on import of IMDb Data
Change: Use "My Documents" folder for settings, skins and default image path (for better Vista/Win7 compatibility)
Change: Use system's temp folder for temporary files (for better Vista/Win7 compatibility)
Fix: Crash at loading HTML Export form
Fix: Crash on canceling TV download

Cinematic Collection Viewer should have nothing to do with DVDProfiler. Only the plugin. And there was no database change between version 2.7 and 2.8. So I don't see anything which could cause this. Which version of the plugin are you using?
Please send me the following file (maybe I see something in the trace):
"My Documents\CCViewer\Debug.log"

Any regular users of my Viewer here who would be willing to beta test a new version of the Viewer?

Brand new beta release: Version 3.0.0

As nobody was interested to do beta testing, I am going into the public beta testing stage earlier than planned with the hope to get some feedback.
The more feedback I get, the more often I will make new beta releases.

Version 3 is re-implemented completely from scratch, so not all features from the old version are yet implemented. But I have already a bunch of new features to offer.

Version 3 installs into a different folder than Version 2, therefore you can use both in parallel. Also you can use the same databases as with 2, but I recommend to do a backup first.

A German translation file is available for download in-program via File->Online Update->Translation. I welcome additional translations.

Here a list of the changes:
3.0.0 (beta)
New: Redesign (migration to .NET 4)
New: New logo designed by norbi_et_orbi
New: Charts/Graphs based on SQL queries (including build-in charts). I used this feature when I did the charts at the end of last year for my statistics which I posted here.
New: Scripting support to directly access and change data (not yet documented, if you want to learn more about this feature, please contact me)
New: Macros which are run on certain action (e.g. profile selected)
New: Unicode support (e.g. Asian characters are now supported)
New: Proper boxset nesting
New: Grouping of collection list by first letter
New: Multiple skins can be shown at once in default view (previously only one at once could be shown in Profile Information window
New: Progress shown in task bar (only in Windows 7 upwards)
New: Support of SQLite database format besides MSAccess format (though it still has performance issues)
New: .NET DLL for accessing the database (as abstract objects)
Change: All information from "Profile Information" window integrated into main window
Change: Most important profile information on one tab

Discontinued (currently no plan to support it):
- DVD Profiler 2 Import
- Headshots download
- change tracking via SVN
- Translation import/export as text file (currently only xml file supported)

Discontinued features: Will only be implemented on request:
- IMDb data import (text files available on IMDb for download)
- update of old databases (pre 2.7)

Still needs to be implemented:
- DVD Profiler 2 Export
- Award editor (implementation started)
- Headshot wizard / manager
- Editing of profiles (partially done)
- Editing of episodes
- Command file support
- Random profile selection
- Loaned Due display
- filtering of collection list
- special ordering of collection list
- editing of crew mapping
- editing of alias entries

As a preview, here a few comparison shots between old and new version:
Profile view (old version)
Profile view (new version)
Episode view (old version)
Episode view (new version)

Please give feedback:
- What do you like
- What do you not like
- Have you found bugs
- Which of the not yet implemented features should have higher prio
- Are there additional features you would like

Btw. I will add the ability to download new charts.
I would welcome receiving new charts (they are stored in <My Documents>\CCViewer3\Charts), or ideas for new charts.
If you don't know it yet, you can create new charts based on SQL queries you created. I am also willing to help create SQL queries if you have trouble.

Hey Tom, just wanted to say I really like your Collection Viewer, I've just had no time recently to play with it. I for one look forward to downloading this latest version and I will report back something. Just don't want you to get disheartened and throw in the towel!  :P
