This is looking great! I like Rodriguez' style and the speed he can churn a film out would suit Predator, but I was concerned he'd over-digitize it, like Sin City, but looking at the sneak preview footage posted on the above site he's hit the nail very squarely on the head. Bring it on!

No, that's true, but his name keeps being pushed up front, so I thought Nimrod Antal may adopt the green screen approach. Definitely a producers film so far, so I hope the guy gets the right credit when push comes to shove.

Poltergeist was produced by Steven Spielberg and it is pretty much his style in story, dialogue and visually. Tobe was the director, but it's very hard to find anything in there that's personal to him.

By the way, I saw that Tron trailer the other day. It looks amazing!

I've never heard that before, Jimmy. I know he wasn't remotely involved in the editing once photography was complete, but that is perfectly normal for hired directors. There were rumours about how little input he really had, so much so the DGA investigated, but were inconclusive. Had he have been fired, he wouldn't have got the credit and they didn't remove it after the fact, so I really think it's just a case he was nothing more than an on-set marshall.

I can't believe I keep forgetting to mention this. There was a clip last week, but now we have a proper trailer for Four Lions. This is going to be proper controversial! It's a British film that looks like it plays at a fairly gentle, middle of the road level of humour that you might see in things like The Full Monty. Except there is nothing gentle or middle of the road about the premise, because it's about four would-be terrorists, determined to blow something up! Heart warming hi-jinx ensue, I suppose... 

It's looks bloody great and typically British. It's from Chris Morris, who other Brits at least may recognise from satirical stuff like Brass Eye or The Day Today.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Michael Cera may ruin this but Edgar Wright adapting one of my favorite comic series is too good too pass up)
The Social Network (I really wouldn't care about this if David Fincher wasn't directing but... it's Fincher)
The Human Centipede (IFC got US distribution on this, can't wait to see if it lives up to its reputation)

Jeunet will always be a blind spot for me on these sort of films. I loved Amelie and enjoyed A Very Long Engagement, but it's very clear these are his American style films. Delicatessen, etc, I just can't stomach. Alien 4? We don't talk about Alien 4.

Personally think it looks awful. Sam Worthington is the new Vin Diesel.
