I thought it would be interesting to combine the number of owned DVDs with some Watched stats. So here it is...

    Movies
   TV Seasons
       Total
Owned
326
90
416
Unwatched
2%
0%
2%
Watched Once
38%
18%
33%
Watched Twice
41%
31%
39%
Watched 3+
19%
51%
26%
Interesting indeed! How'd you get those stats? Cuz, I suspect you have a tool or two which let you get those numbers.

Yes I do, but I can't share it, because I use a secondary DB for detailed tracking of Watched events and only import the Last Watched date back into DVDProfiler.

If you use DVDProfiler to keep track of your watched DVDs, you could probably write an XSLT script to get the stats from the exported XML. But I'm afraid there is no easy solution that applies to everyone, because of the various ways you can organize boxsets.

I am just shocked there were 2 that have up over 4,000!  :o

I know I have one of the smaller collections, yet I still seem to have too many movies. Almost 40% of them I only watched once! Maybe I should stop buying until they are as well utilized as my TV shows. I really do wonder how those with large collections fare in that regard.

I think of my almost-900 collection as too large and look at it with a very critical eye now. I have a regular cull now. I've been at almost 900 for a year or so!

I can't imagine attempting to store a collection of 4000. And there just isn't enough time in a normal life to watch them! The thing is, for some collectors, watching them is not the point obviously. I remember a thread on Invelos where someone was recommending plastic storage bins and how he was storing a lot in the shed. In the shed??!! What's the bloody point in that? ???

I count:
1 movie = 1 number
1 season = 1 number
1 volume = 1 number
1 complete series = 1 number
series split up in multiple boxsets = 1 number for each box
I count using this method as well. My current highest collection number is 3711.

I still have several that I haven't watched yet, but it is less than 100 titles of my 743 or so that I own.  So I don't feel too far behind..yet.  I like having the movies I like so I can watch them again, and I do tend to watch many a lot of times.
I am having some storage issues now..but I keep finding somewhere to stack them.  As for packing them away in bins in the shed?  I agree..what's the point of having them if you stuff them in a shed.  I may have to move a few piles around to get to a particular movie, but I can get to it.

I just couldn't resist and have posted a little XSLT script here. The results won't be as fancy as my own, because the script is strictly profile-based.

Wow, I can't imagine having north of 4000!   I am currently at 980, so I should be changing clubs soon.

I am thinking of getting DVD Profiler, but anyone who wishes can view my collection over at DVDAficionado.com. My Username is Prelude94.

I am now at 1798... so I should be going up to the next level with the next package I get. A friend here (Achim/Ya-Shin) sent me a package so he will probably be making me go to the next level. Though that could be a while as it has a LOOONG ways to go to get here!  :P

 I've been closing in on 900 for over a year! I think at one point I hit 894, but I keep selling old titles so the number keeps dropping. I'm at 891 (again!).

Blasphemy, I know.

If that is blasphemy then I guess my case is pure heresy  :hang: , I went from over 600 to less than 200.......

If I look at my Profiler, it says I popped into the 3000 range. But I "cheated" - everything is numbered now and I've added child profiles for almost everything, so the count is skewered. And I most certainly probably won't updated the "Count As" field to fix it... maybe ;)
