Any Must-See Movies 2009 for you?

Tom

Here my short review of it, when I saw it at the FantasyFilmFest last year. I must say, it was the weakest of the movies I had seen at the film fest. It showed a lot of lost potential in my opinion.

Jimmy

Thanks Tom, I have forgot that you had written a short review of this film. Maybe the fact that this movie is in french had something to do with the fact that you have found some part boring? I suppose that it's highly narative parts and since french is my native language this isn't a real problem for me.

Anyone know if this one is available anywhere in Europe, since this is what had inspired the director to do the movie?

Dans la peau de Jean-Claude Van Damme

If you like to think so  :tease:
As far as I remember, it was not the narrative I found boring.
Also I remember one scene, which I thought was intentionally funny and the whole cinema couldn't help themselves to start laughing at this ridiculous scene. When I read reviews afterwards it seemed, that Van Damme meant this scene seriously.

Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li -Always nice to see Kristin Kreuk on screen  :D
Knowing -Nic Cage doesn't often make bad films IMHO.
2012 -The trailer in HD =  :o
Timecrimes -Interesting premise for this one, so expect the Ameican remake sometime in 2010.
Fast And Furious -The proper third part to the trilogy, methinks
Punisher: Warzone -The main film I want to see this year  ;D 8)

 :yahoo: Punisher Warzone - Comes out this Friday  :yahoo:

??? You're really that excited? Empire liked it so much they gave it both stars! ;)

So here's my :2cents:, not so much Must-See films, but I went through the trailers Apple offered me via Front Row (delivered to my computer, not on their site) and this is what I liked:

Gran Torino (maybe the closest we'll ever get to see Dirty Harry 5 )
Slumdog Millionaire
Revolutionary Road (if the trailer is anything to go by, at least some good acting)

...and for the fun side of life:
Star Trek
Push (n o idea where that came from, but the trailer was entertaining)
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (looks like it could kick some serious butt)
X-Men Origins (although that trailer had me utterly confused...)
Monsters vs. Aliens
Transformers 2 (well, they didn't actually have trailer, but it should be fun and it's coming sometime this year)

...and maybe
Up (typical Pixar trailer, didn't really spark with me, but then they usually end up adorable anyway)

Monsters vs. Aliens
Certainly not the most original title ever created
OK this isn't Citizen Kane, but did they really pay a guy to find original and complicated title like that...

Empire have links to the Superbowl spots Here and I think most look pretty good.  ;D

Transformers  :yahoo: AWESOME!
GI Joe  :D Predictable, but fun
Star Trek  Not usually excited by Trek, but I like the look of this
Angels & Demons  Didn't bother clicking play
Land of the Lost  Looks great fun and looks like a perfect set-up for Ferrell to target a younger audience, like Stiller tried in Night at the Museum
Monsters vs Aliens  ;D Up to halfway I was thinking it was just everything that had been done before and better by Mars Attacks, etc, but then... Monster! Playing catch with its own eyeball! Sold.
Year One  :-X No idea. Nothing grabbed me, apart from Cera's sword gag, but then that's what he does. And Black's doing his thing. More evidence required...
Fast and Furious  I have no defence. Love this, even though it will be as shit as the others. Which I also love. Shoot me.
Up  Looks wonderful. Everything I see about this suggest Pixar still aren't planning to drop the ball. Mind you, this is a different clip to the one Empire's reviewing...
Race to Witch Mountain  ;D Looks great. Could be predictable, but The Rock is always good (or is he Dwayne now?) and seems to bring a little attitude.

Mind you I think out of all the interruptions the Superbowl had, Jimmy would prefer This One! ;)

Jimmy

Probably the only thing that could made the Superbowl interesting to watch for me. A lot of big guys in armor jumping on each other... not really my idea of good time in front of my tv

"I just figured it was another commercial until I looked up," viewer Cora King told the Arizona Daily Star.
Seriously, a man unzip his pants and the girl give him a blowjob (or just touch it, this isn't clear) and she think it's a pub. They can't show a breast or a bottom in the US television without having the "think of the children" crowd crying about that for years, and she was really thinking that it was just another publicity... I know that the economy crisis cut the promotion cost for many company, but the adult industry doesn't need any advertizing to be profitable.

Jon, where is the link for this "publicity"

I think they were pretty much all good. Well, except maybe GI Joe, but then I've never been a fan of it so... I couldn't even name a single character from it.

Good of you to say this is the wrong clip - I couldn't spot the window joke they mention in their review!

I couldn't spot the window! Actually if you watch the clip start you'll see it's labeled as the second Up clip from the Superbowl. I think they all come from TrailerPark so it's probably there somewhere.

Speaking of Up, have you seen the different posters for it? Especially the 6 monster posters? I love the old sci-fi vibe they've got going with those!

I am a little bit of a Punisher fan

I also really like Ray Stevenson, he was brilliant in Rome.

That film is at the top of my "Avoid At All Costs" list.

I hate both of the main actors.

If you liked the first 2 then you'll like this. I know I did.

Najemikon

I would have thought that being a Punisher fan would make you very wary of any movies.  ;) And Kate Winslet is wonderful!  :redcard:
