Hey everyone...
I just finished watching The Bionic Woman Pilot episode! They are showing it for free on On Demand! On Comcast at least. I really liked the pilot... I so hope this series makes it! I would love to be able to watch it for years to come!  The effects are awesome... the show is action packed! If you have Comcast with On Demand... you should really check it out!

I found out about this from a commercial... I wasn't able to find it in one of the sections though.... what I had to do was go to On Demand and type in Bionic and found it that way. I haven't watched them yet... but they also have the pilot episodes of Chuck and Journeyman! There may be others... but I couldn't remember what all the commercial  mentioned. It des seem like it is only NBC shows though.

I was quite surprised when I noticed is was Michelle Ryan playing the lead. She was in Eastenders! How do you get from Eastenders to the Bionic Woman?   ???

Isn't that Kara Thrace/Katee Sackhoff at the beginning?

Question: is the pilot only a 45 minutes episode with a "to be continued" or is it a full 90 minutes flick?

I believe it was only 44min. I can't really remember if it had a To Be Continued notice on it or not.

So far everyone I showed it to (2 other people) I am the only one that enjoyed it... which of course has me worried it will be one of those short lived series... one of the shows that I always love... but always get canceled right away.  :(

Eastenders is a soap set in London. I don't watch it, heck, I don't even like it (Emmerdale is more my bag! :tease: ), but the three big soaps are so popular in the UK there's no avoiding them. Anyway, I've found you a clip collection on YouTube so you can appreciate her Cockney-ness before Bionic-ness...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzEBr-KeNmA&mode=related&search=

Thanks for the clip Jon... what really impressed me is how well she hid her Accent... I would have never known she was English if I didn't read it ahead of time. :)

LOL... well either way you look at it... she did a great job with it.

BTW...
Today I got the TV Show My Hero: Season 1... was a complete blind buy... but I like comedies and Superhero shows/movies. So what do you guys say... think I should enjoy this series?

I really don't know, Pete. Is it the sitcom with Ardal O'Hanlon? The basic premise is simple but brilliant; superhero trying to fit in as a normal bloke. Like a lot of recent mainstream British sitcoms though, it plays safe and never seems to reach its potential. That said you may love it simply because it's British. Where else are you going to get an Irish superhero?  :P

Ardal O'Hanlon is best known here for Father Ted. A work of absolute bizarre genius...

LOL... yeah sounds like the one I got... here is the front cover...

What is really surprising is that there was only 6 episodes in the first season.

That isn't surprising at all. Welcome to the UK!

In recent years, some series (note the word "series" rather than "season") have grown to 8 or 9 episodes, but the norm is still 6.

We often talk about what is considered the greatest sitcom ever -Fawlty Towers- and how it only ran for two series. But that's even more astonishing to Americans because it only amounts to 12 episodes!

Drama series (not mini series) seem to run a bit more. Doctor Who is about 11 I think.

The exception is soap opera, or serial drama. As I implied above, soaps are the backbone of British TV. They run constantly, uninterrupted for years. Coronation Street is over 40 years old, Emmerdale well past 30. Eastenders is the young 'un at not quite 20, I think!

Oh yeah, I forgot. The average length for an episode of a sitcom or soap is less than 30 minutes. So you should be able to polish off My Hero in a single evening!
