Horror/Halloween Marathon 2023
I decided to start early this year so that means I have 46 days to see how many horror, comedy-horror or Halloween specials I get in this year! I am not saying I will get something in every single day... but I will do my best. Whether it is from my extensive DVD/Blu-ray/4K collection, streaming or borrowed from the library I want to at least try to watch at least one thing each day. Here's hoping! As for a total... Who knows what I will get. But I would love to top my best since keeping track.... and according to letterboxd that would be 114 from 2021.

I must say... I really had a good time watching this film. It has great atmosphere and all the visuals was done beautifully. The ghosts in this film was done a bit differently then I have ever seen before... at first I wasn't sure how I felt about it but by the end of the film I decided yes it was different but I liked it. Also without giving too much away I must say this one is more then just a ghost film. And it is one that easily keeps your attention through-out the entire story. I feel comfortable recommending this one.

My Thoughts:
A film that puts two of my favorite genres together.... horror and superhero films. I liked it quite a bit... it is definitely a fun watch. and had some pretty cool kills in it as well. I am happy with the way they ended it as well. There are a couple names here I recognized but not all that familiar with. But they all did a fine job. For those that are bothered by it there is a nice amount of gore in this film. Especially if you have a problem with anything dealing with the eyeball one scene may be a bit hard to watch. Overall, I had a great time watching this one. highly recommended.

Nope: Collector's Edition
(2022/United States)

Jordan Peele
Writing:
Jordan Peele (Writer)
Length:
130 min.
Video:
Widescreen 2.20:1
Audio:
English: Dolby Atmos: 3D, Spanish: Dolby Digital Plus: 7.1, French: Dolby Digital: 5.1, Audio Descriptive: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo
Subtitles:

Stars:
Daniel Kaluuya as OJ Haywood
Keke Palmer as Emerald Haywood
Brandon Perea as Angel Torres
Michael Wincott as Antlers Holst
Steven Yeun as Ricky "Jupe" Park
Plot:
Oscar®-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele* reimagines the summer movie with Nope, an expansive pop epic of uncanny science fiction. Following their father's shocking death, Hollywood animal wrangler OJ (Daniel Kaluuya) and his sister Emerald (Keke Palmer) begin observing unexplained phenomena on their vast Southern California ranch that leads them down an obsessive rabbit hole as they plot attempts to capture the mystery on camera. Along with a former child star turned family theme park ringmaster (Steven Yeun) who neighbors the siblings, the pair's efforts to chase the spectacle soon bring terrifying consequences and unimaginable horror. The result is a complex social thriller that unpacks the seeds of violence, risk and opportunism that are inseparable from the romanticized history of the American West … and from show business itself.
*2017 Best Original Screenplay, Get Out.
Extras:
Scene Access
Deleted Scenes
Featurettes
Outtakes/Bloopers
My Thoughts:
I found this one to be to slow for my taste. I had to fight off falling asleep on this film. To be honest I didn't find anything about this film to be scary... don't even think I would consider it a horror movie. I normally like Jordan Peele's venture out into the horror genre, but this time... Nope.

A bit of a comedy-horror. Not too bad for what it is, it has a few laughs in it. Another one I got from the library. Sure, some of it I saw coming a mile away, but that is true with a lot of the comedy horror I see. I would probably pick this one up for my own collection if I found a copy cheap enough.
