Creature From the Haunted Sea, a review by Danae CassandraCreature From the Haunted Sea Year of Release: 1961 Directed By: Roger Corman Starring: Antony Carbone, Betsy Jones-Moreland, Edward Wain, Beech Dickerson, Robert Bean Genre: Horror, Comedy Rating: NR Overview: A government agent learns that a Caribbean island is in revolt and a mobster is shipping off with fellow criminals and the treasury loot. The agent decides he must infiltrate the gang to try to steal the booty, but first he has to invent a deadly sea creature so that he can more easily attain the treasure. My Thoughts: I love the creature! He's absolutely great! Beyond that, this was a pretty funny film, with Carbone doing an impression of Bogart as the gangster through the whole film, the secret agent is completely clueless and the rest of the gang are the most improbable group of criminals you could imagine. There's a subtle political critique too, since the "good guy" is an idiot American spy, the bad guys are trying to rob Cuban military men who, in turn, stole the gold from the Cuban treasury. Ultimately you gotta root for the monster! He's the best! I think if you like Roger Corman you'll like this film. Bechdel Test: Fail Overall: 2.25/5 (From B-Movie mini-marathon on March 19th, 2013) Merry Christmas, Drake and Josh, a review by addicted2dvdMerry Christmas, Drake and Josh Drake and Josh get jobs at the mall, one as Santa Claus and the other as his assistant. While working, they meet a less-fortunate girl and makes her a promise that this will be the best Christmas ever, or face jail time. My Thoughts: Brittany asked me to watch this with her today. I only ever watched a little bit of the series that this movie is based on. But I remembered enough to enjoy the movie. It is definitely more geared towards kids... but I got some laughs out of it. I especially liked Jake and Josh's evil little sister. She had me laughing more then once. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 Totals: Christmas Movies: 6 Christmas Episodes: 22 Christmas Specials: 1 (From Addicted2DVD's 25 Days of Christmas Marathon on December 23rd, 2009) HawthoRNe: Season 1 Ep. 2: Healing Time, a review by addicted2dvdHawthoRNe: Season 1 Ep. 2 HEALING TIME A patient with a potentially fatal aneurysm believes Christina is his wife and confesses to having an affair. Notable Guest Stars: Malcolm-Jamal Warner (The Cosby Show) as Fred Cloris Leachman (The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Mrs. Lachman My Thoughts: I enjoyed this one quite a bit as well. Good medical cases... good side storylines. I liked the character Cloris Leachman played. It is a shame they weren't able to get her for more then one episode.
